Coachella, officially the biggest music festival in the country, is just a couple of weeks away. It's gotten so big that organizers decided to do the festival two weekends in a row this year. The first will take place on April 13-15 and the second on April 20-22, and if all goes well, both weekends will feature roughly the same lineup -- Radiohead, The Black Keys, Dr. Dre, Bon Iver, At the Drive-In, and tons more.

But it's certainly not the only festival in town. Bonnaroo will go off in June, and Lollapalooza lands in early August. It's not always easy to find the perfect lineup within a reasonable distance, but if you keep your eyes peeled there's bound to be a festival out there that can whet your musical appetite. And if you simply can't make it, digital streaming is becoming more widely available, so you can witness the magic on your own terms, in your own living room.

COACHELLA does a fan-freaking-tastic job of providing entertainment across the board.
Huge art installations, lighting displays, variety of musical acts and interesting people watching make for the best festival around IMHO.
I've been 5 x: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012.

Almost all of those reasons actually. The atmosphere most definitely. But also the community. Obviously all these people share a similar interest to you so it's great.

Then it is a chance for me to get away for a day and just be my age and myself. And the little bit of a road trip is nice too. XD

I LOVE going to music fest cause I get introduced to the most awesome bands and people who actually digg them. A lot of my friends aren't into the same music as I am and it's nice to hang and chill with some freakin' epic people for a weekend!

The community

The temporary community you get a festival is joyous. Everyone together for one reason. People are in large part, are absolutely love. Nothing better than spending a day seeing exciting music with thousands of similar people, then going back to a campfire and sharing booze and drugs and just chilling out. It's a wonderful feeling that everyone should have. Such a warmth and love, a togetherness which is really nice to have. Festivals are always my yearly holiday, mainly because of the wonderful people you meet there. and the music, obviously.

The people in a music festival are very relaxed and friendly. There's no Santorum, no School, no college debt, no worries about bills, no family problems, no religious debate, no drama. Just music and new friends!

Well, to get away, and the atmosphere and the community-I couldn't mark all 3 :P I love going to concerts of any kind. The people who are there are just as devoted as you are and are hell bent on having a good time. You meet amazing people and if you're lucky, you hold onto them until the next festival when you can call them up and be like, how the hell are you? lets catch up at the KISS concert in a week! Crazy crap like that makes it so worth everything
