Talk about big music news: Paul McCartney's son James says he would consider forming The Beatles -- The Next Generation with Sean Lennon, Dhani Harrison and Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son).

"I don't think it's something that Zak wants to do," he told the BBC. "Maybe Jason [another of Starr's sons and also drummer] would want to do it. I'd be up for it. Sean seemed to be into it, Dhani seemed to be into it. I'd be happy to do it."

Asked, "Do you think it could happen?" James responded: "Yeah, hopefully, naturally. I don't know, you'd have to wait and see. The will of God, nature's support, I guess. So yeah, maybe."

Naturally, James' quotes nearly broke the Internet, forcing him to clarify his comments on his Facebook page:

"Hi Everyone...well, looks like quite some attention being given to my BBC interview! Honestly, I was just thinking out loud about playing with Beatles family friends, nothing more. My band's going to be on tour in the UK and US for most of this year, and the shows are going great! I'm so grateful…Lots of love to you all…!"

It's scary how much he sounds like his Dad in this song! I would definitely love to see The Beatles' sons in a band though. It doesn't hurt to try. :)

Dhani not only looks just like his dad, but he gained great musicianship as well. His band the newno2 are really good indie rock. He also works for Harmonix, the company that created Guitar Hero and Rock Band...and is the sole reason they got the rights to make Beatles Rock Band.

Also, off topic, why is Ziggy Marley on this list and not Damian Marley?! Damian is, without a doubt, the most popular and talented son of Bob Marley.

I listen to Sean Lennon regularly, his voice is soothing and while his music is different, he definitely channels his dad.

I think this idea is interesting, but it won't work if they force it. Maybe they need to jam for awhile before they jump into such a thing.

Agree. Also I think the children of actors and musicians and business men etc. need to find their own way in the world. Let them try music but if the talent and the charisma are not there they will find out soon enough. Going way back I'll bet that anyone can name children of famous singers who have gone the same route but not too many can name real successes. Talent can be passed on but there is only usually one geniius in the family.. Ziggi and Nora may not belong in this category.

I don't see any of them with their father or mothers talent except perhaps Rosanne Cash or Ziggy Marley. But in the spirit of the others they will not receive many votes. Not popular enough. Not Rock or Roll or Reggae or Classic or '60s or country. Ziggy Marley and Rosanne Cash
