"If it weren't for The Beatles, I would not be a musician. It's as simple as that." These words, written by Dave Grohl for the new Beatles compilation titled Tomorrow Never Knows, echo the sentiment of much of the music community at large. Most musicians have been inspired in some way by the Fab Four, and those of us without any musical gifts have still been inspired by their refreshing message of peace and love.

Tomorrow Never Knows
is comprised of their "most powerful rock songs" and includes favorites like "Back in the USSR," "Helter Skelter," and "Revolution." I know it's almost impossible to choose, but what is your favorite song by The Beatles? If you can't pick just one, give us your top 5!

MTV.COM reports:
The Beatles compilation album Tomorrow Never Knows hit iTunes Tuesday, along with a love letter to the band from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

I'm definitely in the minority but there isn't much from The Beatles I do like.

The Kinks were a far better band, I prefer them.

I was never a huge fan of their music. But I love their history. The only member I care about musically is George.

They had great songs and I liked most of them - I am missing Penny Lane, Power to the People, Yesterday, Help, My Sweet Lord, etc. A super group! But there were and still are many other fine groups and singers I like as much and a few even more.

My Sweet Lord was from the George Harrison solo album All Things Must Pass... just saying :)

I remember that, it was certainly the best song by George Harrison (1970).

How sad that he died from cancer in 2001.
And John Lennon was shot down by an insane murderer in December 1980 in NYC.

Now, only Paul Mc Cartney and Ringo Starr are left, both still active.

    R.I.P. George and John!

If you're interested, Paul is the concluding act of the Olympic Opening Ceremony tomorrow; having seen him perform with Springsteen at Hyde Park in London a couple of weeks ago, he's still an awesome live performer.

Thank you. Sure, London will always rely on its best "cards" in big events, and remember, Paul and his Beatle partners were ennobled by the Queen. They will try to beat Beijing with a profusion of stars, shows and personalities from everywhere.

The Opening Ceremony will be emitted on many European TV channels at 20.00 - 20.05 our time. I don't catch BBC, but you might have the opportunity: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programm...

Thank you. Sure that London will play its best "cards" on this occasion, all the more that Paul and his beatle companions were ennobled by the Queen. London will try to beat the Beijing 08 Games with a profusion of stars, shows and personalities. I suppose that you will either go to the Opening Ceremony or watch it on BBC.

Yeah, always liked George alot. Never got much recognition whilst in The Beatles but his solo stuff is well remembered. And how nice for him that his son is continuing the family music legacy.
  • Marianne NYCbrit 2012/08/11 11:18:23
    Marianne
Indeed, he was less recognised, and it is nice that his son is following his footsteps.
