Now, we're sure there have been some low-budget video game versions of the Battleship board game before, but Double Helix Games' new rendition is like nothing you've seen in the [relatively nonexistent] Battleship universe. Instead of just calling out "G3!" and "You sank my battleship!" and "Pret-ty sneaky, sis!" -- er, scratch that last one -- this new game will offer players an immersive, large-scale naval war. The game, which will come out this spring along with the Universal Pictures "Battleship" movie, will be part strategy and part first-person shooter.
The press release explains, "Combining naval strategy simulation with first-person shooter gameplay, players fend off the enemy beachside while ordering attacks against their marine counterparts. Seamlessly switching between battlefield and overview 'Battle Command' map, the Hasbro game is brought to life as carriers, frigates, cruisers, destroyers, submarines and the legendary USS Missouri Battleship pummel the enemy in a race to strategic points that turn the tide of battle." Sounds interesting. Do you think the new "Battleship" video game will be better than the popular board game?

Well, you could, but it'd be expensive!
Me? Just hearing some guy from across the globe saying "You sunk my battleship!" is music to my ears :D
