Sorry Neil Sedaka, it's nothing on you, Neil Diamond holds just too much on the sentimental side for me to vote for you.

And it had a sentimental value to it for me. Song Sung Blue was the first song I ever sang.

wow i used to know this band who would sometimes let one of the guitarists sons get up on stage and sing that song. he had such a great voice actually better than the lead singer but the more attention he got the less they let him sing.

Calendar girl is okay, but I definitely prefer Neil Diamond. Calendar Girl is just a little too syrupy for me.

Nice analysis of the song. I would've also pick Neil Diamond, more because he had a sentimental song for me. Song Sung Blue was the first song I ever sang in school choir tryouts.

Got another one coming. I am not too much into Frank Ifield, as a matter of fact the only way I heard of him was when Doc Frankenstein introduced me to some of his music. But at least it'll be a change from my other ones, most of which I have heard of.

Neil Sedaka's version of this song which he wrote. I know Captain and Tennile had the mega million seller but this is better.

    NOW yo' is tolkin'!!!
Now you HAVE given me a toughie!!
Possibly Neil D's best song and certainly one of Sedaka's best.
But for me, Neil Sedaka just knew how to write songs and get them produced nicely, even if he didn't have the voice of our friend, Mr Diamond!

So I will go for Calendar Girl.

AND I may tell you in advance, although I would take Dolly for a personal life's partner over Frank any day of the week, I would take Frank's scintillating singing and genius vocal production over Dolly - and his general musicality any moment of any day over DollyHa Hsa HA !!! ;)
In MY view, and I know it is in my mother's also, Frank's voice was possibly THE voice to surpass on the popular music circuit of the 20th Century - and on Country as well ... he would be hard to beat :)

And with 2 such top artists vocally, what a battle it will be...
But overall, I don't think the yanks know enough about Frank to go his way ... people mostly go on familiarity.
In that dept, Dolly will walk on Frank! :(
