Baseball is getting expensive

First C.C. Sabathia gets the richest pitching deal in history from the Yankees and now Jonathan Papelbon, one of the league's best closers, gets a $6.25 million deal with the Boston Red Sox. That's six and a quarter mil for just one season. It is the largest deal in history for a closer who was eligible for arbitration for the first time. Even strikeout king Eric Gagne didn't make that much. These are some insane numbers. No player is worth that much, right? Best case scenario, you get what you paid for, but the rest is downside. Let's not forget about Mike Hampton, huh?
