He needs Slash more than Slash needs him.
His re-worked Guns N' Roses is garbage, and the only thing keeping Axl in the news are his petty antics.
Slash on the other hand is a rock guitar icon and a successful solo/group musician.

Usually, Hall of Fame inductions are cause for celebration. Not for Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose. He's not only skipping the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, scheduled for this Saturday, but is apparently declining the honor entirely, citing the age-old drama between him and Slash as the main reason. Slash had expressed a willingness to reunite "with blinders on," but it looks like that's not going to happen.
Rose said in a letter, "I won't be attending The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf ... Time to move on. People get divorced. Life doesn’t owe you your own personal happy ending especially at ... others' expense." Wise words from Axl Rose. From the sound of the article though, it seems like it might have been due to bad blood between Slash and Axl.
It's a shame, too, cause they were one helluva' band.
