Axl Rose Declines Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction: Understandable or Awkward?

Usually, Hall of Fame inductions are cause for celebration. Not for Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose. He's not only skipping the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, scheduled for this Saturday, but is apparently declining the honor entirely, citing the age-old drama between him and Slash as the main reason. Slash had expressed a willingness to reunite "with blinders on," but it looks like that's not going to happen.

Rose said in a letter, "I won't be attending The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf ... Time to move on. People get divorced. Life doesn’t owe you your own personal happy ending especially at ... others' expense." Wise words from Axl Rose. Do you think his decision to decline the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor is understandable?

He needs Slash more than Slash needs him.

His re-worked Guns N' Roses is garbage, and the only thing keeping Axl in the news are his petty antics.

Slash on the other hand is a rock guitar icon and a successful solo/group musician.

He's bitter because He made us wait 17 years for Chinese Democracy and it blew!!! While the Rest of Guns N Roses went on to succeed with Velvet Revolver. Even Steven Adler managed to stay more Relevant than Axl Rose Albeit Celebrity Rehab.

Understandable...in that he screwed the band over himself when it comes right down to it. It wasn't the same when he made the attempt to bring them back; he waited too long to do it, he treated his fans horribly when he did... It's all one big ego trip for Axl.

It's up to him, for the reasons he cited and a lot more. Did he even know what he was turning down, was it done on a whim and we'll soon read some stupid story that he changed his questionable mind? Sounds like he had some grudges and chose to dig them up to use now.I have mostly attempted to ignore gross idiocy in entertainment, let the Jack Ass crew ( who I love, btw, ) handle the idiocy and if you're a real musician, don't throw away your talent. Too late for Axyl, not for a lot of us.
Award shows are a joke now, anyway, going by what I see and hear. The band I love is on hiatus and has been for a while, I need new MUSIC, not a bunch of flash. Whatever.

I suspect Axl Rose has consumed massive amounts of drugs and other nasty things...
His brain must be like that fried egg in the "public service" messages that use to be shown on tv.
I'm sure he's content drooling on himself and doesn't want to be bothered...

AXL has his reasons...he is generally anti guns..n...roses

But when you see some of the garbage that has gone on in the Hall Of Fame....not inducting some of the best... while inducting some that are not even rock n roll...

run dmc ....madonna.....micheal jackson ,, ABBA,,all have been inducted.....

YET ...Rush, Kiss, Deep Purple, The WHO, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, The Cars, Bon Jovi , The Moody Blues....have been passed on....

    and there are plenty more...
you see some of the legends with top sales still on the ITunes site...

Journey always has a top selling song on itunes rock list
    Doobie Brothers the same way...
Their music is 30 to 40 yrs old yet still top sellers...

    But neither have been inducted...

The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is b.s. anyway. Axl knows that. Plenty of bands who should have been inducted have been overlooked for various reasons. Axl's reasons were real and more than what is being published here.

Good! Axl does not deserve to be in it anyway! He ruined things for his whole entire band over the years. They could of put out 10 record breaking albums over the years, but Axl threw that down the toilet for his whole band! I will never forget what he did when he toured with Metallica in Montreal and James got hurt! Holy freagin baby!

It's a free country. He can refuse it if he wants. His choice. I can't say if he's holding a grudge or not. Maybe he just wants to be left alone. I will say this. I personally found grudges to be bad for my health and happiness. And I have seen what it has done to people where I live now. it ain't pretty to watch what it does to them.

Guys always been self-absorbed dick! I hold him responsible for the demise of a great band that never got the chance to fulfill their potential. That & the fact that he has such little regard for G&R; fans, as evidenced by the many concert riots caused by his refusing to go onstage for hours at a time. I think he chose not to go because he's rightfully concerned with how his old band members would have treated him; and how the fans in attendance & the media would have treated him. Total loser. Show will be much better without his bloated old ass.
