Usually, Hall of Fame inductions are cause for celebration. Not for Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose. He's not only skipping the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, scheduled for this Saturday, but is apparently declining the honor entirely, citing the age-old drama between him and Slash as the main reason. Slash had expressed a willingness to reunite "with blinders on," but it looks like that's not going to happen.

Rose said in a letter, "I won't be attending The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf ... Time to move on. People get divorced. Life doesn’t owe you your own personal happy ending especially at ... others' expense." Wise words from Axl Rose. Do you think his decision to decline the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor is understandable?

He needs Slash more than Slash needs him.

His re-worked Guns N' Roses is garbage, and the only thing keeping Axl in the news are his petty antics.

Slash on the other hand is a rock guitar icon and a successful solo/group musician.

The man can sing his ass off. I think that is his decision if he chooses. Each member of Guns and Roses is a component and when it works and is flowing they ROCK. Artists are temper mental, it happens get the groove back on track if any sorry's are in order saying them is better than loosing cohesiveness as a group and friendships. The award for the band is long over due. Just sayin...

its his choice since its all about him. its always all about him. i loved the original GNR. even if he is an egotistical drama queen it wouldn't have been the same without him and hes got to realize and respect that without one of the greatest guitar players ever it would not have been as powerful. if he had a good reason (can't think of one) to decline i would say ok but he is being petty and immature. he could have manned up for it and rocked it for the fans and for what GNR was because that is why they are being inducted. not axl, not slash but Guns N Roses.

Such a self-important Douche. GNR has been musically dead since the ACTUAL band broke up, but when they were together they were epic. Wise words my ass, those are the words of a man who is so full of himself, that he refuses induction into the rock and roll hall of fame simply because he refuses to acknowledge that GNR is not just him, but was a collective effort of several talented musicians. This is just as childish a staunt as when he sued the creators of Guitar Hero 3 for using Slash as the representative of GNR in the Welcome to the Jungle level because "Slash isn't IN Gun's n Roses". Asswipe.

The sad fact is that a lot of people still love that band and their music. He is squandering what could be a very special time in his life for what (it would have to be a serious infraction that would make me hate someone that bad -like child molestation or incest). Point I'm trying to make is I do not know what caused the rift. He should have been gracious enough to honor his own body of work, his fans, his life and his band mates, to accept the award, the honor-to be a mature, fully self actualized human being-sing the dam song and get on with life.

Alx is a snot, from the same town I went to college in. I hate his voice, and it was Slash's guitar that MADE GNR! This is just a brat move, he's trying to make himself look more special than he is, and not look like the sellout that he is. Whatever! Congrats Slash! Enjoy the party! May your mad riffs live on!

Coming from Axl, i completely understand. He is not that good without Slash and the others. Slash has become a Rock Icon and Axl, well his has always been Axl. I would have liked to seen GnR back together, but i understand why they are not.

It's the first honorable thing he's ever done, though probably for the wrong reasons. Guns and Roses suck. How are they inducted and not Supertramp, Alan Parsons Project or dozens of much better artists and groups??

He`s just being so stubborn.

Just accept the damn thing already!

He doesn`t know what he`s getting himself into by not accepting it, a lifelong of people telling him how nuts he was for not accepting it , constant gossip about how he didn`t take it because of something he had against Slash...maybe even guilt will set in one day for not accepting it over a stupid grudge.

But who knows maybe he doesn`t think he was worthy of it.
This CD with Slash and BB King is terrific, It`s a live performance with other guests.
It is very memorable . I hope I can buy the DVD.

Since he's a washed up has been who destroyed the band 20 years ago and still hold's a grudge against the rest of the guys who helped make it a great band for a very brief time. I think it's a little too late for them to be inducted anyway. Should have done that 20 years ago when there was still an original member left in the band and before Axl turned it into his quest to make the worst album's possible and slap the GnR name on them to try and increase sales.
