This Friday night, for the first time ever, UFC's The Ultimate Fighter will air live fights and continue to do so until its season finale. The show, also known as TUF, features two opposing coaches who will be opponents later this year--UFC bantamweight (135lb) champion Dominick "The Dominator" Cruz and "The California Kid" Urijah Faber.
The show premieres Friday night on FX at 9pm/ET and will not be in its pre-taped format like its previous 14 seasons like it was on Spike TV. The 16 live fights airing that night will determine which lucky MMA fighter and aspiring UFC star gets into the TUF house in Las Vegas. From that point on, the fighters in the house will battle it out week-to-week in a tournament format to determine who wins a six-figure UFC contract.
The catch? Those fighters will be cut out of every day life--as the UFC will hold onto their cell phones, laptops, etc. Testosterone-fueled chaos, anyone? Another unique aspect is that the coaches will be doing their fight training camps as the season progresses in real time. With TUF season 15 giving fans the closest look at what it's like to being a fighter to date, will you be watching Friday nights?
