Are You Watching NFL Preseason Football?

The National Football League annually presents preseason games every summer to allow teams to set their final rosters and see who is ready for September. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to the preseason. For starters, they are essentially exhibition games. On top of that, there is still a great risk of injury or in lesser cases--extreme overhype.

Tim Tebow recently made his New York Jets debut and underwhelmed, while the man that took his spot in Denver, Peyton Manning, took the live field for the first time with the Broncos. Manning's performance was really no different from Tebow's, but analysts and observers talked about him getting back on track, as opposed to being average in the game.

The bottom line is preseason football can tell coaches and observers a lot about a team before the regular season rolls around, but it can also be deceiving--especially when players are usually going half-speed to avoid serious injuries. Just ask fantasy players. Overall, whether appealing or not to most fans, the NFL preseason does serve its purpose and get teams prepared for their regular season run.

No, I don't watch professional sports, but I do like what Tim Tebow has brought to the sport, and the whole sports environment.

I watched about a quarter of three different games. I don't have the attention span for pro football as much the last few seasons. I think it's all the advertising that's turning me off......

Not as much as I used to, but the storylines involving Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III are interesting, so I tend to gravitate toward following how they are faring. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about the media fueled "soap opera" that they've made of the New York Jets!

I've watched my favorite team's games and the first quarter of a few others. There's not much to see after the first quarter of the early pre-season games.

I lost most of my steam for football when they started whining about not having enough money. Oh, and I lived in Jacksonville, FL for a while. Try rooting for that team. About one of the most frustrating things ever.

He's experiencing payback of Karmic proportions for the classless way he dismissed Coach Tom Landry.
And also for chasing Jimmy Johnson off, after the guy built him a winning franchise!

Preseason games suck! So does the NFL for making season ticket holders pay full price for those meaningless exhibition games!

Nope, haven't played (or watched a game, for that matter) since I was a kid. Not a fan of that one either, really, it's also rather dull.

Making silly assumptions with no evidence? That seems par for the course for an American football fan.

...no you didn't... but then again, they don't really teach world history in the US, do they?

Again, you're only supporting the ignorant, arrogant American stereotype you folks have garnered over the years. -__-''

    I'm done here. Adieu.
