After weeks, months, a year, and nearly two seasons of great speculation, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has finally made a decision about his future. No, he didn't pull a LeBron James and host a nationally broadcast special, although that probably would have made great TV. Instead, Howard told the Magic he plans to stay.
However, according to ESPN.com, Howard has changed his mind multiple times about whether he'll waive his opt-out clause and become a free agent this summer or not. Now it's one thing for Howard to take a stand and say "I'm not staying," but it's another thing to keep flip-flopping. By the time this is published, the trade deadline may very well be over.
But will Howard's Magic career be over? The team can still trade him and even if he stays put, there is a strong possibility he could change his mind and still opt out. He hasn't signed any contract saying he definitely won't opt out, so the team is still technically in a pickle. Should the Magic have taken Howard's word since he's a great player and a franchise star? Or should the Magic have dealt him before the trade deadline? Either way, if we take his word for it this time, Dwight Howard is staying -- and that's a good thing for Magic fans.
