Back in the 60's & 70's the olympics ruled. Today, with so many choices to watch on TV and how they have commercialized the olympics, it's not the same.

Most people could give a hoot about track and field... and so many other sports, except in the context of the Olympics. TV does such a great job of presenting all of it. One feels poor not being able to ever attend any of it. One has never been to anything. One's great Olympics of the mind yielded nothing but horror now, yes now it can be called horror. One's best SAT score in one's high school has yielded nothing but torture from the untrained animals. I can't even afford to attend an amateur baseball game in Abacoa. Where will a brilliant lady like me obtain $8 for such endeavors? Never mind the hot dog and root beer. There ought to be greater fairness in the reward distribution in this world. More Olympic judging or something... Chiller Theater

I hate commercialized sports like baseball, basketball, football and hockey. I think the profits made by them and the oil companies should have the hell taxed out of them, then our national debt would start decreasing and us folks that can barely afford to live from month to month might get a break...

Baseball is great, football bores me and hockey is ok, in the Olympics, you see sports that are normally not televised and you see (for the most part) amateurs instead of overpayed professionals and it adds to the sport.

Although I do hold the Olympics in high esteem, I have never been able to attend any of
them in person, and, barring a miracle or sudden good fortune, I don't think that I will ever
be able to do so in the future. Anythihg other than television and the internet for getting
involved with viewing the Olympics requires not only a fat budget, but also a tremendous
amount of thorough and very careful planning. Especially when the topic of safety and
security come to light. I'm not saying that sports events are neccessarily inexpensive or
free of any requirements for a good strategy for attending. Nor am I saying that safety and
security are worry free. The assult of Brian Stokes at a Dogers game in LA is a good
case in point to the contrary. However, tickets, parking, transportation, food, and, of
course, the souvinares, and even lodging in some cases are all much easier to plan out
for a domestic or Canadian sporting event than they are for the majority of the Olympics.

I like year round cause that's pretty much the only time I get to spend time with the boys/men in my family and Olympics... all the girls come over. So.. If it wasn't for that.. I wouldn't be spending time with my family. lol
