It has been over ten years since the entertainment business lost a talented young recording artist and actress in Aaliyah Haughton (stage name Aaliyah) in a tragic plane crash. Even though she was only 22 years old at the time of her death, she left a major mark in the entertainment industry, arguably when she really started to peak. According to a report by HipHopDX.com, one major artist looks to keep her legacy alive with a new album.

Top recording artist Drake is rumored to be producing a posthumous Aaliyah album, although the rapper/singer has yet to confirm or deny the report. Drake is reportedly working mostly on the production side (i.e. instrumentals, beats, creative direction). It is expected that he will also release a new single that features Aaliyah (most likely sampled from her past tracks or unreleased material).

In the past, Drake has sampled Aaliyah's classic "At Your Best (You Are Love)" in his single "Unforgettable" and even has a tattoo in tribute to the late singer. To say Drake is an Aaliyah fan is an understatement. But in the past, Aaliyah's closest friends and producers in Timbaland and Missy Elliot said they firmly believe any posthumous work wouldn't be released without their approval. It is unknown whether Drake has reached out to the duo most synonymous with Aaliyah's career as of press time. If the project sees the light of day, it would be the first posthumous Aaliyh album since 2002 and second overall.

Aaliyah was an amazing artist. Her death was a real tragedy. I would be interested in buying a posthumous album of hers, her music was amazing. I still listen to many of her songs.

Why weigh in if you don't care? Aaliyah had a lot of fans so some of us find this interesting and worth voting on and responding to. What I hate is when people who have no frigging idea who she was vote and respond. Respond and vote on topics that you do care about. If you don't care we don't care to hear it. Go somewhere where you do care.

The family guy thing was but the statement annoys me simply because of the people who vote or weigh in that have no knowledge of this performer or her music. This poll and the question at hand was meant for those who did like Aaliyah and her music.

Drake needs some new material to mix his raps to since he can't make up his own.

Since I was never one of her fans in the first place.

(had the question been about a posthumous Tammy Wynette album, I would have answered "yes")

I have remained a fan even to this day. I was 14 when she passed and I looked up to her, for a while I was doing the Aaliyah hairstyle and makeup. Try again, one in a million, if your girlfriend only knew, we need a resolution and many more in my ipod. I thought that maybe they wouldn't have waited so long to even think about posthumous album. But I'll give it a chance. Drake is brilliant

Yes , because the fact I don't know some chick who most likely makes rap or hip-hop is , means I'm totttallllllyyyyy a fan of country. Because , you know , the only genres that exist are hip-hop , rap , and country.
    I am under 22 , though.

Most folks that listen to country avoid everything else in my experience. but yeah, being under 22 explains it all. that is cool...I wasn't dissing you, just pulling a Patrick Jane on ya.

I wouldn't mind hearing another album from Aaliyah as long as it's new stuff and not remixed or altered mixes. i want to hear some of her projects that she didn't release, for whatever reason.

She may have been a talented artist, but I honestly believe that unless an artist explicitly asks their loved ones in their will to finish their album or release songs they didn't release in life that it shouldn't be done.

I actually just started liking her with try again & then acouple of months later she was gone...so ONLY if it is unreleased music not a drake song featuring her.....

she had a really nice tone to her voice....Its still sad to know a 22 year old can die in such a horrible way...she could have been a massive star...
