Looks like that Twinkie you've been harboring in your desk drawer for the last couple years will last longer than its maker. Friday morning, Twinkie-loving snackers, stoners and junk food aficionados across the globe felt a deep pang of loss. Hostess Brands Inc., the company that makes Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, has shut down all baking operations, according to a company release.

The dictatorial left strikes again. Because of the political correct Health Police, there will soon be no fun food left to eat. And because of greedy union bosses, demanding higher pay and higher benefits for employees regardless of performance, private corporations won't be able to survive. But hey, public sector unions are okay, right? Sure, as long as us taxpayers keep them in business!

The greedy bakers union put a company out of business - I do hope they are happy since they affected thousands of other workers..

NO!!! I'm a type II diabetic. I might be able to eat a twinkie but ONLY if they got rid of the sucrose sugar.

I love them twinkies... would have loved a few more of them before they went but ah well, there is plenty of bakers shops that will be happy for less competition from mega companies. I'm sure some cream puff can fill your void for you.
  • scarfy 2012/11/21 03:26:56
Brought down by liberal policys. sad. I can see it now...TWINKIES-MADE IN CHINA
  • stevie.luplow 2012/11/21 00:01:54
Haven't eaten that crap in over a decade (and I'm only in my 20's...that has to say SOMETHING for the world!). Now...Little Debbies....I would cry if they went out of business any time soon...I love their products (but still rarely eat them...home made is so much better...and cheaper!)
  • Bob 2012/11/20 22:43:39
I still buy them for my wife.Hostess has been around for 60 years, stil the same quality
  • TexasMentor54 2012/11/20 19:30:20
    Never touch it.
  • knybee 2012/11/20 06:21:10
I've been eating hostess cupcakes and it's other products since I was little. But some years ago they changed the ingredients to include high fructose corn syrup rather than real sugar. I don't care how many people deny it but it changed the taste and I stopped eating them. Twinkies were the last ones standing to have real sugar. And just recently it changed with them also. Bleah.

  • nicesteve 2012/11/20 03:54:47
Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Cupcakes, Snowballs, Tigertails, the whole lot. I grew up loving
every solitary one of those treats, and then some. I sure hope that those mediation
sessions bear some fruit, otherwise we're in for a tremendous loss.
  • Edie 2012/11/20 03:22:56
Time to tell the Union that are making the high wages off the back of the workers drop dead.
  • Tasinahri 2012/11/20 02:26:04
Yes Hostess is out of business...BUT....they have (or are in talks to) sold the Twinkie recipe to Lil' Debbie. So we'll still have Twinkies, they'll just be made by another company.
  • scarfy Tasinahri 2012/11/21 03:28:34

Most of what they make is crap and not really good for human consumption. The company needs a remake.

  • macaction 2012/11/19 22:35:16
Today you can get much better tasting (and better ingredients) treats anywhere that Hostess is sold. From gas stations to grocery stores...there are better options that cost less. Clueless executives ran the company into the ground.
  • cnerd 2012/11/19 21:39:46
Thank you labor unions. You done it again!
  • macaction cnerd 2012/11/19 22:36:13
You would have made a great corporate slave.
  • scarfy macaction 2012/11/21 03:30:39
Or a good producer. Not a drag on society like so many union members.
  • macaction scarfy 2012/11/24 05:34:56
The drags on society are the corporations who use government subsidies to corner markets and put other companies out of business. Then they run the company into the ground extracting as much cash as they can until it all comes crashing down around them. Then the morons point the fingers at the unions because they don't want to face the reality that they have been taking Reaganomics up the backside for 30 years and they just realized that the trickle down smells like urine.

I have my sugar addiction sated with cappucino.
  • billanator 2012/11/19 20:22:08
The only withdrawals I suffer is from caffeine. I hadn't had twinkies in over a year. If you really like Hostess, buy 'em up and don't support the Union system.
  • dzzshadz 2012/11/19 20:16:08 (edited)
I liked the idea that if I wanted one I could just go buy it. Now it's gone :'( The Twinkie rest in peace
  • LizzieS... dzzshadz 2012/11/20 01:28:11

time for somebody like donald trump to come to the rescue. why dont they just get rid of the union workers and replace em all with wetbacks like all the other companies have had to do to compete with their competition.

Uh… up here in Canada, we have high youth unemployment but companies are are allowing to import workers from 3d world countries.
In your nation, it looks like the 'illegals' have more rights than the citizens, something is wrong with this picture.
  • macaction Kozmo, ... 2012/11/19 22:38:30
You just wrote that your Canadian companies are importing labor. How is that any different?
  • Kozmo, ... macaction 2012/11/21 11:22:22
    Kozmo, Kostable of the Kustodian
We are SIMILAR in that regard, illegal or not, 3rd World labor are being used by (richer?) employers to 'scab' the local ones.
See no difference by which MEANS they enter our nations, refugee, people trafficking or corporate sweatshops.
