ABC's Dancing With the Stars returns with its All-Stars cast on September 24, showcasing familiar faces from past seasons. One of the more controversial re-castings is that of Bristol Palin (Season 11, third place), daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Since her DWTS stint, she has starred in the reality show Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp, which made headlines last week when her 3-year-old son used a gay slur. That, combined with an interview she gave awhile back where she essentially said homosexuals shouldn't have certain rights such as marriage, has made her unpopular in many viewers' eyes. (Since then, Bristol Palin has claimed that she has no problem with gay people.) That being said, Palin's re-casting seems to have created a buzz around this coming season. But whether that buzz, positive or negative, will generate the ratings ABC wants remains to be seen.
Other celebrities confirmed for the upcoming DWTS season include: Apolo Ohno (Season 4, winner), Emmitt Smith (Season 3, winner), Helio Castroneves (Season 5, winner), Drew Lachey (Season 2, winner), Kelly Monaco (Season 1, winner), Pamela Anderson (Season 12, sixth place), Sabrina Bryan (Season 5, seventh place), Kyle Massey (Season 11, runner-up), Kirstie Alley (Season 12, runner-up), Shawn Johnson (Season 8, winner), Gilles Marini (Season 8, runner-up), and Carson Kressley (Season 13, eighth place). Two notable exclusions are Season 14 winner, Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver, who can't participate due to football season, and the former Steve Urkel, Jaleel White.

Guru_T_Firefly 2012/07/29 23:09:55No+7If this is the best programming that American TV can provide, we're all in deep sh*t.

And I guess there's one more "all-star" to be added that will be voted by the "general public". I hope it'll be Sabrina Bryan. She got gypped the last time she was on the show.
I hate palin with a passion.
If you're going to include winners, you don't include non-winners in this type of thing!
All star should either have been all winners (often considered a less popular idea because we already saw them win) or more of a "best of the rest" including many 2nd and 3rd place finishers or those like Brandi that didn't make it to the top though they deserved it.
They left out Brandi, Evan Lysacek, and Mario Lopez despite how good they were. Brandi lost because the judges and producers made Maksim look like a horrible monster with creative editing and Evan lost to ringer Nicole Scherzinger.
Then they brough back Bristol Palin, who doesn't even fall into "best of the rest" as far as top 3. Melissa Rycroft was all about inter-networking advertising in the first place, and Pamela Anderson doesn't fit in this cast either.
They blew this one really badly, and it is pathetic that they did.
The rock I live under is fine. I have old and underrated gems of `80s rising genres.
