There was a time when vampires were about more than just
teen romance and shopping at Hot Topic. In fact, believe it or not, there was a time when vampires had nothing to do with Hot Topic whatsoever. Crazy, right?
"Salem's Lot" author Stephen King is on a mission to bring back the bloodthirsty badness of old-school vampires, and wrest the genre back from the hands of teenage girls.
In an essay he wrote for "American Vampire," King explained, "Here's what vampires shouldn't be: pallid detectives who drink Bloody Marys and only work at night; lovelorn southern gentlemen; anorexic teenage girls; boy-toys with big dewy eyes."
He's looking at you, R-Patz. Although the
new beard might excuse you for the moment.
When asked what vampires should be, he responded, "Killers, honey. Stone killers who never get enough of that tasty Type-A. Bad boys and girls. Hunters. In other words, Midnight America. Red white and blue, accent on the red. Those vamps got hijacked by a lot of soft-focus romance."
King would probably get along with
"True Blood" star Stephen Moyer, who proudly referred to Pattinson's "Twilight" character as a "p***y" and "the Diet Coke of vampires."
Besides, vampires do not exist so if they sparkle under the sun, then so be it. Besides, not all of them are vegetarians. It is just the way of life for the Cullen family and a few others. There are vampires in the books that do stick to a similar way of vampiric life.
AND NOT, TODAY'S VAMPIRES AREN'T GIRLY, IT'S JUST OUR STANDARDS BECAME HIGHER ;D
My vote was a mistake!
It's just people coming up with new creative things.
They aren't real anyway, so what does it matter if they're psycho bloodthirsty monsters, or sparkly hot guys? lol
My favorite vampire is still Barnabas Collins
