Are Soccer Fans Jealous of Football?

I too often see pic like this -- soccer fans explaining that the word "football" refers to foot and ball, but American Football allows them to carry an egg shaped object with their hands ("hand + egg" instead of "foot + ball"). I think soccer fans (fútbol) fans don't like the popularity of American football in The States and that Americans generally don't care or watch European Football (fútbol).

Yes

Soccer is a world sport as you pointed out but soccer fans are constantly bad mouthing football. Especially foreigners who hate the game because they dont understand it. Football will always be an American sport and I think alot of other countries are angry & jealous that we have our own sport and we have no interest as a whole in a boring soccer match.

Football (real football) is played by over 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the most played sport in the world at any given moment. What should we be jealous of? A poor imitation of rugby?

I am a soccer fan and a plyer and I dont feel jealous of the football fans or the plyers not even the game its saelfe(although it dosent even touchs ther foot. LOL!)

LOL-no it is just irritating when something has an inappropriate name and even more so when the name is borrowed from somewhere more appropriate.

Please, Soccer in this country is irrelevant. Perhaps if there were more scoring and less boring, it might be worth watching, Now rugby, I could see that sport getting an audience here.

Soccer fans think soccer is the greatest sport.I like soccer,I always watch the world cup. But I think NFL football is far more exciting than any sport !My opinion!

I never understood how American football got its name. There was already a football played with your foot yet they could come up with a new name for a new game. I think even American football fans generally find this silly.

Football, while i hate it, is a global sport, that's popular in a few hundred countries.
American Football is basically Rugby, except it's only played in one country, and you put on body armour to play it.
