E3 wrapped up last weekend, and it wasn't long before actress and Ubisoft host Aisha Taylor was inundated with hate mail accusing her of not being a real gamer. She fired back on Facebook, arguing that she has been a gamer all her life, and could probably beat a lot of the offending guys on Halo. This week, Kotaku writer Katie Williams expressed similar frustrations with her time at E3.

In an opinion article titled "So What If I'm A Woman? Let Me Play The Damn Game," Williams recalls how she was "guided towards the Facebook games," and walked through the simplest first-person shooter mechanics as if she couldn't possibly have a clue how to work them. She calls the experience a "hurtful underestimation of my capabilities, both as a journalist and as a gamer." Do you think girl gamers are underestimated, or did Taylor and Williams just have some bad experiences?

I love playing games, all kinds. Some formats are harder for me than others, but I can still kick some butt playing the games I love. My racing skills leave a bit to be desired, but working on improving them sure is a lot fun.

My ex gf was a beast at most any game. Beat my ass a lot, and I am a true gamer that can fly through most any game I play, and a beast in MW2 and BLK OPS. Would love to find another gf that plays.....

And many people think they don't exist. There are plenty of girl gamers out there, some are even better than men. Your gender doesn't determine your gaming skills.

Well from my own gaming experiences its safe to say if you ever run into a female gamer she is either mostly into some sort of a RPG type of game and if she does play any FPS's she's probably not so great. Plus on a side note being a male or female gamer doesn't automatically make you an all gaming bad ass some people just suck.

That's not true. :/ I play all sorts of games including RPG and FPS. I beat my male cousin at Halo. Your gender doesn't matter when it comes to how good you play video games...

Trust me not many are any good to me. I've pretty much gave up on playing most games especially Call of Duty, Battle Field, Halo, Gears, and such unless I find a good clan to try and take on myself.

Well with video games I am I guess. And well I hardly even play any anymore like I said I get bored and plus I think I'm getting too old to be playing video games anymore especially since everyone thinks they're a "gamer" because they play rock band, or wii sports, madden or any other sports games I'd really rather not be catagorized with any of that nonsense.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the gamer thing. Some girl said she was a gamer before when she only played The Sims. xDD But you're never too old for video games... :o
