On Monday, Anne Hathaway suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction at the “Les Miserables” premiere in New York. According to the New York Daily News, she has now spoken to Vanity Fair’s Ingrid Sischy about the unfortunate moment when her Tom Ford dressed hiked up as she was getting out of a car.

Apparently, she said "my dress was so tight that I didn't realize it until I saw all the photographers' flashes," and describes the event as “devastating,” adding “I might as well have lifted up my skirt for them."

She also spoke about the incident on the Today Show, saying that it’s “very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment and rather than delete it, and do the decent thing, sells it.”

She even managed to relate the event to “Les Miserables,”saying “I'm sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, which brings us back to 'Les Mis,' that's what my character is, she is someone who is forced to sell sex to benefit her child because she has nothing and there's no social safety net." Do you think that wardrobe malfunctions are devastating, like Anne Hathaway says?

for the boys of course its a no =D. sexuality is for everyone and that includes anne hathaway herself, she speaks as if she's different than the rest of us. if you don't like the downside of being a famous actress then get out of the acting business...

What if those were nude-colored panties with a vulva printed onto them as a joke??? Both Anne and Amanda are equally beautiful in their own ways... How are wardrobe malfunctions devastating? These 'malfunctions' or rather 'planned happenings' are disgusting when used by other 'well-known' attention-whore-sluts in Hollywood... I've had a few of my own wardrobe malfunctions, unintentional of course.

I mean... when you're really petite and you are in hurricane-strength waves at the beach with a crazy fiance who MUST try to ride the waves and your bikini struggles to stay on in the first place... things tend to kind of... float or... get carried away!!!

However, the fact that most of these comments refer to her being a "slut" are just sad. Not devastating but not her fault. The fact that an honest accident is grounds to call someone a slut and an attention whore just proves that a large portion of society thinks women should just stay out of the public eye.

For anyone who isn't known for doing stuff like that, it can be extremely devastating. She is right, our society is horrible and decency is a minority

You could go to the grocery store and get a whole new batch for about $5.00. But with Sandy, for example, you can't go to the grocery store and get a whole new house for about $5.00.

They are just something that happens. We all have mishaps, their's are out in public more. The media makes too much of them. Some are fun though.

In the scheme of things, devastating it is not. To the individual going through it well then I guess it could feel that way. Yes, it does seem like people will do just about anything to make a buck. That's why most Paparazzi have no conscience, it affords them the luxury to hurt people without feeling bad about it. I can list a lot of other jobs people have that do exactly the same thing.

Of course not., They're pre planned attention getters. The one I like the best is women wearing no undies and climbing out of limos. Showing exactlty what they're giving to the public on all planes. Devastating? Only to their parents. Now they know that their little girls are comfirmed whores that use their c$%ts as weapons and instruments of personal advancement. Discuss.

Dressing immodestly is like rolling around in manure. You'll get attention, but mostly from pigs.

I say yes, because even though this question is worded terribly in relation to the actual situation, what she was devastated about was the embarrassment of being turned into a sexual object by the media through a, logistically speaking, unavoidable mishap (because she could not have predicted it) -- a light that, intentionally drawn or not, results in social backlash, and assumptions of intentionality. A light that does not easily fade, and that often results in back alley talk of "sluttiness," a badge society does not confer warmly.

“I'm sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, "
What's devastating is listening to these self absorbed half wits. She's the one who's turning her sexuality into a commodity. No one forced her to wear that dress, and it was her choice to not wear undies. I don't care if she wears sexy clothes, but having to listen to her whining us just annoying. Then she tops it off by comparing her plight with that of starving peasants in late eighteenth century France?

I don't know. They definitely shouldn't be, but in Hollywood I guess they are.
What's disgusting though is that there are those indecent pigs that will photograph someone's privates without their permission and then sell them.

I like Anne Hathaway very much and yes, a wardrobe malfunction can make anyone feel like moving to a desert island permanently. (Unintentional open fly, anyone? Blouse with "gap-osis?") (I was giving the eulogy at my aunt's funeral and my half-slip fell down.) All that being said, though, any actress --or actor, for that manner-- who goes the Full (or even the Half) Monty on film shouldn't grump about wardrobe malfunctions.

Why is it such a big deal? Everyone has genitals. From late childhood on, people have many opportunities to see genitals of both sexes. Who cares? I'm sure that Anne's junk is pretty much the same as any other woman's.

When they're true malfunctions, yes. When they're attention mongers doing it on purpose just to gain press? No.

I actually believe Anne when she says it was an accident. It happens. But so often, it's not.

Well, they're horribly embarrassing, but you can't even compare them to prostitution to support a child.
