Ann Curry ended her anchorship with "Today" Thursday morning after being fired due to low ratings. Curry was very emotional and had an awkward exchange with Matt Lauer.At 8:50 this morning, Ann Curry signed off as Today show co-host. It was a teary scene, and Ann was heart-breakingly apologetic, saying: "For all of you, who saw me as a groundbreaker, I'm sorry I couldn't carry the ball over the finish line… but I did try." Ouch. Matt Lauer offered a few words about Ann's contributions to the show, noting that she has "the biggest heart," which is a comment on her emotions, not her reporting skills. Matt also said, "It's not goodbye." But his body language was terribly casual — one arm up on the couch because yes, he owns the damn place — and the kiss he placed on Ann's head is best described as perfunctory. Al Roker and Natalie Morales each embraced Ann with hugs. No televised hug from Matt.

She was good when she did the hard news, but her personality wasn't well suited for the feel good stories, or the soft interviews. She should never have been given the 2nd chair job after Meredith left.

I was glad when Ann Curry got the job because in my opinion she deserved it. I don't understand how they can blame her for some of the poor ratings. Why her? I think the producers would be the ones to blame. Additionally, I think that Matt Lauer is jealous of her or afraid that people like her better than him since she is so likeable and personable. He is not. Glad that she is getting 2 million dollars though!

Even though I did not watch her, I hear they tried to fill his shoes at a much later date with Katie Couric.

I don't mean to be mean spirited and I do hope her future is bright, but I really don't care for the morning shows, they make me want to scream... especially NBC with their on going mantra, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story...

I never watch her show but I am sorry she lost her job. It's unfortunate but there are millions of people who have lost their jobs and I don't know any who got a 10 million $ severance. If I were her I would be OK with that. She can go on pretty nice vacation and enjoy her family and friends for the rest of her life on that.

I agree, this whole thing was handled in the worst taste, Ann deserved better than what she got. Money is nice they will be giving her but what a kick to the ego, she definetely deserved better. They could have handled it with class as Ann deserved. Will not watch the today show again.

She is a sweet lady who showed a lot of class today saying good bye. I know she looks sad and I am sorry that the ratings game made her the person to go, but when all is said and done I know she will do ok especially with the 10 million per year for the next two years that is in her contract.
