Ann Curry ended her anchorship with "Today" Thursday morning after being fired due to low ratings. Curry was very emotional and had an awkward exchange with Matt Lauer.At 8:50 this morning, Ann Curry signed off as Today show co-host. It was a teary scene, and Ann was heart-breakingly apologetic, saying: "For all of you, who saw me as a groundbreaker, I'm sorry I couldn't carry the ball over the finish line… but I did try." Ouch. Matt Lauer offered a few words about Ann's contributions to the show, noting that she has "the biggest heart," which is a comment on her emotions, not her reporting skills. Matt also said, "It's not goodbye." But his body language was terribly casual — one arm up on the couch because yes, he owns the damn place — and the kiss he placed on Ann's head is best described as perfunctory. Al Roker and Natalie Morales each embraced Ann with hugs. No televised hug from Matt.

I've always liked her and thought she did a good job. It's sad to see her go. I'll miss the sweet lady.

Ann Curry was at her best when she read the news for Katie and Matt.
In the last year or so, she became, IMHO, very political, and showed her
feelings, and opinions far too much when interviewing various guests. Who care's what her politics or opinions are..they are hers, and should have remained "neutral"...She was also "far too" soliticious...like a begging puppy.....most of the time......

NBC has low ratings, not because of her, but because people want honest reporting. I watched it for years but stopped watching when they became a mouth piece for the democrtatic party, plain and simple!

NBC has been disappointing us since Johnny Carson ended his hosting of the Tonight Show. It's okay though, especially since Letterman has proven that SNL, 30 Rock and too few other programs offer very much loyalty to No Big Credibility.

Not because she is going, I gave my tv away. When I watched the Today show it was cool, but got tired of Matt and the self important way he acts. Boy did his head get big.

This goes to prove NBC's or MSNBC's primary goal is not to provide decent journalism, but to promote sensationalism to attract more viewers.

I really respect Ann Curry as being a honest person with good intentions. She doesn't fit into NBC's shady ways.

I hope another network picks her up.

she was not Fried, NBC is loosing in the ratings for Morning shows, What NBC did was Paid Curry to Leave, Fox & friends are the Top Morning right now follow by CBS, then ABC, All they did was paid off the remaining contact they had for the Morning show and move her to a different area within NBC, But I promise Ann will be with another Network within a year, and I hope it's FOX, just to sholve it down NBC's thoarts

I never watched the show because I don't care for Matt Lauer. As far as I'm concerned his smug attitude is the reason for their low ratings.

Yeah, I can't stand that look by Obama. Almost every picture I see of him he has his nose up and he just looks so disgustingly arrogant. Lauer isn't too far off from that same look..

She was an exceptional lady who was more of an assett to the Today show than Matt Lauer ever was and ever will be. He owns the damn show and I will laugh my head off if the Today show gets cancelled because of "low ratings" That would not only be ironic but it would be poetic justice at its best. I would pay good money to see the look on Matt Lauer's face if that happens. Him all smug like hee hee you are so fired without any give a damn about the show or those on the show. That would wipe that smirk right off his face. and I would love to see that happen. Ann Curry was a million times more of a reporter than he ever was and ever will be.

It's GMA over at ABC for me. While I don't like Robin and George (lefties), I like their camaraderie and presentation. Matt Lauer always seems so full of himself. Ms. Curry will now have to stand in the unemployment line with millions of others. Too bad.

YES.....I agree....That Stephanopolus especially......He must still be on the Whitehouse payroll, with the stand he takes each and everyday..... Robin is OK....I think she intentionally remains neutral......and above it....that's something Ann Curry didn't do......

i feel that it was a terrible act for NBC to do to Ann Curry and I will not watch the Today show again. No, I never watched the show. She has an irritating manner that is also insincere and would deliver the news with an obsequious manner like she was the only one who understand the situation. What could I say, I just could not stand her. She is overpaid for what she was doing. Don't cry for her. She has 3 year left on her multi million dollar contract. She'll cry all the way to the bank and would probably wind up in another network with a fatter salary because she has an attractive appearance.
