Amy Winehouse's Death Inquest May Be Re-Opened: Let It Rest or Re-Open the Investigation?

News broke this week that the investigation into the death of Amy Winehouse has been re-opened amidst questions surrounding the qualifications of the coroner involved with the case. Apparently assistant deputy coroner Suzanne Greenaway, who oversaw the investigation, had not been registered as a lawyer in the U.K. for a long enough period of time, the required five years. Greenaway, who has practiced law in Australia for ten years and who had been appointed to the post by her husband Andrew Reid, resigned after the news surfaced. Reid has also left his job in the wake of the discovery.

In October of 2011 Greenaway had concluded that Winehouse died of accidental alcohol poisoning the previous July. But now a new inquest will be held after the first of the year. The family of the “I Don’t Want to Go to Rehab” singer seems satisfied with the original findings and has not requested a new hearing based on the news. There is no indication that an updated conclusion about the how the singer died will be drawn by revisiting the case. It seems like it is merely a technicality. What do you think: Should they let it rest or re-open the investigation?

Why is it that NOBODY Rich and Famous ever just DIES ? There's ALWAYS a conspiracy theory behind it. If you're poor and unknown however, they plant your ass in the ground like a gardening show, and in 6 months, nobody even remembers that you were ever alive in the first place.

Never mind Winehouse... what about the Marilyn Monroe case? Her association with JFK was embarrassing to the government and the White House, and then she dies? Coincidence? I don't think so.

IS there more evidence that has surfaced supporting a re-opening of the case? Or is it JUST that this woman hasn't been practicing 5 years in the UK and that is the only reason they are thinking about revisiting it?

I think that if they think more is to the case they should re-open it, if they don't then they should let it rest,it's as easy as that.

I believe they should open it again for the plain and simple fact that EVERY time they reopen a case like this, they ALWAYS end up finding some sort of evidence or extra piece to the puzzle they didnt originally see or know about. Im a fan of Amy Winehouse and believe it would be smart to open it again.

For crying out loud, she was a ticking, drug and booze filled time-bomb. You could have had a freshman biology student for the coroner and they still would have come to the correct conclusion about her death. Wasting money on technicalities...just pointless.

I am really sure that lawyers are well qualified to determine causes of death, and doctors are prefectly good for a legal action, NUTZ. Why does it take a currently qualified lawyer to make such a determination?

Ridiculous because this poor addict probably had a more thorough autopsy then any not famous person. Her parents have accepted reality, why can't the public?

Just because she hasn't been in for 5 years doesn't mean she didn't come to the correct conclusion. I believe that Amy did die of alchohol poisoning, as she was a heavy drinker and loved to party. Let her rest in peace.

looked into. Otherwise, let poor Amy rest in peace.

Alcohol overdose? Is that a common cause of death? Like JUST alcohol overdose? No drugs with it? Cuz that seems pretty far fetched to me. I am not being a smartass, I just honestly haven't heard of that too much.

Absolutely, one CAN die from alcohol poisoning, it is widely unreported but is at least a major contributing factor in abuser deaths.
