The Tomb, the new thriller from director Michael Hafstrom, is
already frontloaded with a ton of star power. The movie already has
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger appearing together for the
first time in a non-cameo situation, and Jim Caviezel is on board as
well. Apparently the team behind the flick didn't think that was enough,
I suppose, because Variety is saying that the cast list just got a lot longer.
The trade says that Amy Ryan, Vincent D'Onofrio, Vinnie Jones and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson have now attached to The Tomb.
What's interesting about the casting is that D'Onofrio, Jones and
Jackson all worked together previously on the crime film Fire With Fire,
which is due out later this year and also stars Rosario Dawson, Bruce
Willis, and Josh Duhamel. The story of this new project follows a
structural security expert (Stallone) who is framed for a crime and put
in a high-security prison of his own making. He then begins a mission
that will not only help him escape his tomb, but find the person
responsible for putting him there.
Ryan will be playing the film's female lead, and is described as
"Stallone's business partner and potential love interest;" D'Onofrio
will play the man who convinces Stallone to build his final prison
before retirement; and Jones will play a ruthless, brutal guard that
Stallone has to deal with. The report doesn't give character details for
the character played by Jackson. The script for The Tomb was written by
Miles Chapman with a rewrite by Jason Keller.
