Jennifer Lopez in a sexy bra top! An Aerosmith concert! Rihanna! A live marriage proposal, and, lest we forget, a brand-new American Idol.
These were only some of the highlights of Wednesday night's "American Idol" finale, which crowned handsome (and talented) 21-year-old Phillip Phillips the season 11 winner. Yes, it's the fifth year in a row that a white guy won, but who's counting?
As usual, the "Idol" finale had something for everyone. Season three winner Fantasia joined third-place finalist Joshua Ledet (“Mantasia”) for a rollicking performance of Elton John’s classic, “Take Me to the Pilot.” Season five finalist Ace Young proposed to season three runner-up Diana DeGarmo, live on the "Idol" stage. And then there were the aforementioned performances from Rihanna, J-Lo and Aerosmith.

My girls wanted Holly (the texas english little girl to win). I was bored watching the show.
All that raaaa raaa raaa is for the birds. Jessica did it a bit as well. If you watched the "phone book" song they even teased him about it.
They vote heart-throb instead of best singer.
I wanted little Jess to win, but Phil-Phil has also been a favorite, since his Gotye duet with Elise, so congrats to both of the finalists!!
minds to find Phil more appealing than Jessica or Joshua. But AI never really was a singing competition, it's always been popularity. Jess and Joshua both would put Phillip to shame in a belting match.
You can't really blame it on the contestants themselves. A lot of my friends told me that when they tried to call for Phillip and Joshua the phone lines weren't working and that night Jessica was saved first, if anything the producers were trying to make it so Jess would win. Then Jessica didn't have a very good winner's song whereas Phillip did but they were the ones who chose the song themselves and the producers probably thought that the popballad would do better in music sales for Jessica and led her to that type of song, then throughout the whole competition the judges sucked at the their job and didnt dist...

AI needs to reboot and go back to how it was in the begining. It wasn't always about the popularity, Kelly Clarkson was clearly the most talented one and she rightfully won the first season. After Carrie Underwood there's no one who has had a big impact on music like these two or at least not a winner.
You can't generalize either saying that Phillip wasn't good. He had some bad moments but he was entertaining. I know grown people who voted for him throughout the season and they like the type of music that he has to offer, even J-Lo said you couldn't really compare the two and I felt like that was the first thing that I could agree with her in this season. Some people prefer belting out like Beyonce but there are some of us who like the easy laid back vocals like Phillip does. Either way I would've been happy with either one winning the past has shown us that contestants don't need to win in order to make it in the industry.
