These were only some of the highlights of Wednesday night's "American Idol" finale, which crowned handsome (and talented) 21-year-old Phillip Phillips the season 11 winner. Yes, it's the fifth year in a row that a white guy won, but who's counting?
As usual, the "Idol" finale had something for everyone. Season three winner Fantasia joined third-place finalist Joshua Ledet (“Mantasia”) for a rollicking performance of Elton John’s classic, “Take Me to the Pilot.” Season five finalist Ace Young proposed to season three runner-up Diana DeGarmo, live on the "Idol" stage. And then there were the aforementioned performances from Rihanna, J-Lo and Aerosmith.

American Idol? Please. I called Phillip as the winner when he AUDITIONED. It was obvious. I'm sure the judges are furious after they embarrassed themselves over the Jessica save, calling her one of the best singers in the country, and then she still lost.
I'm waiting for "Breaking Bad" to resume, Aso End of the track? not sure that's the right name.
I'm glad Phillip P. won, even though I loved Elise's voice the most, then Phil P, Jessica, & Joshua. Why?
Phil P.= had the "whole package", unique style or presence, vocals, guitar, looks etc.
Jessica= had the best voice-unbelievable really, but lacked experience, & style or presence.
Elise= had INCREDIBLE vocals, unique style & presence. I would have voted for her to be number one. I'm sure she'll get signed right away.Better vocals than PP.
Joshua=Awesome voice.
Part of what I said was what I think the judges look at, for the whole effect of a contestant. Like Jessica's voice alone is phenominal, but the other factors weigh in.
Like I said, I loved Elise's fabulous voice, & that she wasn't afraid to do some of the legendary rock-n-roll landmark songs, which you don't hear much on the show.
PP had alot of passion in his singing, (so did Joshua), & I liked his guitar work.
I think the final 5 or so will be on the charts. They're amazing!
Sadly disappointing.
Lots of hype and enthusiasm . . . but it just didn't wash.
Jessica was just Pia 2.0 and Phillip was an obvious winner pretty much when he auditioned, given the show's past 4 seasons.
Most of the best singers didn't even get past Hollywood.
They vote heart-throb instead of singer.
I vote for 'who would I buy an album from?' . . . and it certainly isn't from p2.
That guy transcended just singing.
