Alec Baldwin Beats Down a Paparazzo: Justified or Juvenile?

"30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin doesn't like photographs. At least, not when he's finalizing a marriage license. The 54-year-old actor reportedly punched a photographer in the face when the guy tried to get a shot of him leaving the Marriage License Bureau in New York City on Tuesday. Unlike the Bieber incident, this beatdown has some convincing photos to back it up. Still, Baldwin refuses to back down.

Photographer Marcus Santos told The Daily News, "He comes after me, starts shoving and punching me —- one time, right in the chin. And then he started shoving me, and pushing me. He lunged at me like raging bull." Baldwin stuck to his guns on Twitter. He wrote, "A 'photographer' almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning #allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded ... I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over." Do you think Alec Baldwin's attack was OK, or was it just a juvenile assault?

Paparazzi are disgusting. Giving people no respect or space, and yelling out the stupidest junk. Back off.

Paparazzi deserve what ever they get,... Doesn't make any difference if it is a smiling face or their camera snatched and shoved up their ass. Personally I think a baseball bat to the top, side, back of their heads might give them the message they are intruding on peoples personal lives.

When you are in the public eye by you own choice you must expect this idiots..once he put his hands on this clown by law Baldwin is in the dog house. If the camera did not make physical contact then he does not have a leg to stand on...can see a law suit on the way.

I hate the paparazzi. They glorify people who should not be glorified.
Not to say that Actors are horrible people, but just that they are often times average all the way around.

He is just a bully. He was in a public building, applying for a marriage license which is a matter of public record and he was in a place and a city with NO expectation of privacy. So, he had no right to attack the photographer-plus, he probably alerted the press himself for the publicity about his new marriage.

Public streets and sidewalks, public buildings and such have never been covered under the privacy expectation rules. SO, juvenile, but he beat his ex-wife, Kim, and has other run ins with violence, so not unexpected.

He should go to jail for 30 days for assault. Maybe some jail time will make him less arrogant, less of a schmuck.

Well, EXCEPT, the repeated lawsuits over this have stated that public streets, public buildings and such are NOT places where any celebrity has a "reasonable" expectation of privacy. And Alec has been down this road before, so he should know by now what the rules are.

The paparazzi had it coming and that photographer is a doucshe bag. He compared this incident with the Trey Von Martin case and was seriously playing it up. He wanted to get hit so he could get a big paycheck and publicity.

With all the incidents of paparazzi stepping well out of lines to get those prize winning shots, abd celebs obviously not digging their rght to nearly blugeon them with cameras to get them, it is time for a reform of the laws that allow them to objectify these star's freedom to privacy. Either that or issue insurance to the photographers and decriminalize opening the proverbial can of whoop ass on ones who try to injure to get a shot. The Will Smith thing was semi justifiable, but nearly being struck with equipment is ruthless and should be criminal.

Love 'em or hate 'em - a big part of the reason that these celebrities are as famous as they are is because of the paparazzi. These morons like Baldwin should know that and be thankful. He clearly assaulted this guy; he committed a crime; he has no right to lay his hands on anyone. I hope he gets sued. The paparazzi are a part of the fabric of what makes Hollywood work and what makes those elitists rich. At 54 years old, Alec Baldwin should realize that and deal with it with a little more dignity. The guy that took this picture was probably the bigger of the two photographers and Baldwin chose to attack the little guy.

Really? I thought they were famous because of the movies they are in. They get along just fine with the professional photographers and their movies they don't need people snooping around their personal lives. They don't get paid by the paparazzi when a picture of theirs is taken. Therefore it shouldn't be allowed.

If you would read with some degree of perception you would have seen that I said that the paparazzi are "part of" the reason for their. The pictures these people take are published in magazines, bought and sold by various Hollywood publicatons, and help to create the image and the mystique that propels their celebrity status. If these people walked around in public and were not constantly surrounded by photogs, their celebrity would to be nearly as interesting and their narcissistic personalities would not get the daily "fix" they crave. The whole image of these people dodging photographers and sqinting their eyes at the pops of camera flashes is all part of their fame. When these people are all pressed and primped they love it. But, when the fact that these people are really just normal, average looking people, fat, with bad skin, chaotic lives, drunken immoral sots is exposed, it pisses them off.

And an act of cowardice considering the photographer (smaller) was defending his camera and the aggressor knew he'd never dare hit back and lose his job. Paparrazzi ARE a nuisance and celebs are spoiled rich asses. What would people have said if the photographer, in self defense, would have beaten the holy crap out of Baldwin?
