Alec Baldwin Beats Down a Paparazzo: Justified or Juvenile?

"30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin doesn't like photographs. At least, not when he's finalizing a marriage license. The 54-year-old actor reportedly punched a photographer in the face when the guy tried to get a shot of him leaving the Marriage License Bureau in New York City on Tuesday. Unlike the Bieber incident, this beatdown has some convincing photos to back it up. Still, Baldwin refuses to back down.

Photographer Marcus Santos told The Daily News, "He comes after me, starts shoving and punching me —- one time, right in the chin. And then he started shoving me, and pushing me. He lunged at me like raging bull." Baldwin stuck to his guns on Twitter. He wrote, "A 'photographer' almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning #allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded ... I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over." Do you think Alec Baldwin's attack was OK, or was it just a juvenile assault?

Paparazzi are disgusting. Giving people no respect or space, and yelling out the stupidest junk. Back off.

Baldwin has a short trigger and is known for this kind of behavior. That's why the paparrazzi follow him so closely. On the other hand the paparazzi in action are sometimes terrorists. I understand the actors make a lot of money and are conceited etc, But you need to see the photogs in action sometimes. It can be overwhelming.

Juvenile, just cause I had not another option. He is famous, pale face, rich... So it's juvenile. To a common citizen, we could point a finger on his face, and call him stupid, rude, arrogant.
Is it not a crime to be violent against other person? (no matter the situation)

Actually, it's juvenile but I can understand losing it on them. He should keep his hands off people regardless. The camera should be a tad further from the face also--which is why I chose justified in this case. Should have been a third option for those of us who can argue with our own selves lol

Actually, I wish there was a both button. Need to leave people alone but getting into a fight with them just eggs them on to do more outrageous acts to get good pictures.

He is an idiot. The punch probably felt like a little girl's punch.

"..He lunged at me like raging bull" Was probably more like a raging mouse.

This comes with the territory of being a celebrity, taking a picture have never hurted anyone. I do believe Alec Baldwin has anger problems and need to be in "Anger Management" counselling. If you don't like the "Paparazzo" get the hell out of the business and keep your hands to yourself before you ended up in prison!

Celebrity or not where are their rights? They should be able to live without someone sticking a camera in their face all the time. Isn't that stalking.

What about the poor guy that had his foot run over by Baldwin? Did you see how that went down. He returns from his ride and the "Paparazzi" look like "Best Buy" on Black Friday. He should be aloud to club them.

For all the complaints about paparazzi, let's remember that people like Baldwin use them to suit their own purposes. Did Baldwin HAVE to go to the most central location for his marriage license? Probably not. Did he assault the camera person? Yes. Has he demonstrated out of control behavior in the past? Yes, he's alleged to have assaulted his former wife and verbally attacked his young daughter on the phone. Then he shows up on Letterman (wow that's a coincidence...not) and drops trou. Oh....and he has a movie out that's gotten lousy reviews. Now you do the math. (And this boob wants to run for political office too. I guess Franken's misbegotten election has given him an idea that being a failed comic is a pathway to power)

Baldwin is an ass. He should be shot and put out of his misery. He is a detriment to society.
  • Willski smitty 2012/06/21 17:42:30

He's funny, and he tends not to harrass people. He's less deserving than the paparazzi.

He is not funny. He just thinks he is funny. What makes him special that he can attack another man?
  • Willski smitty 2012/06/21 18:15:42 (edited)

Nothing, I never said there was.
It's a trait of the victim - the paparazzi - that makes them worthy of being attacked.

I think some child rapists should be attacked and put out of society. But we protect them behind bars.

The pap are way less than that.
  • Willski smitty 2012/06/21 18:26:38

the rapists are put behind bars to keep them away from potential victims. (well, unless they decide to target other prisoners) Not to protect them.

I call BS on that, I don't know why Americans think they're entitled to know everything about a person just because they also happen to be on film.

Im not american. I am British. And i do agree that they should have some privacy but surely they knew privacy was going to be rare. Its practically in the job description.

I understand the occasional photo while walking from one event to the other, but the absolute insistence that we should know about their private life in any manner is beyond absurd.
  • Jay Cordingly 2012/06/24 04:16:22
    Jay
Unfortunately wether you agree or not is that some people want to know what they are doing 24/7. The actors know this, the media knows this, so why on earth should he be allowed to get away with beating this guy up?
