Adele's only problem is repetitive lyrics?

flaca BN-0 2012/06/06 22:15:57
Adele has a voice. There's no doubt about it. And the only thing that annoys me about her songs is that she skimps on the lyrics. Instead of changing them, verse by verse, she repeats them which adds a layer of boredom to the song.

Adele..... get a writer to help you make your songs more interesting.
We'll all leave the singing to you.
Just my ten cents worth.....
You!

Chasing Pavements, Rumor Has It have repetitive chorus, but all other songs are not at all repetitive.

i don't care for her voice! It seems monotonous to me - as in basically consisting of a single tone, timbre .... i could make a long list of woman singers with better-quality voices, IMHO! Let's start with Amy Winehouse, for example!! no comparison between the two (except of course that poor Amy is no longer with us).

i didn't know that ... we have (the) 2 Adele CDs at the house ... my wife enjoys them; to be honest (which pains me greatly!), i probably haven't given them a fair chance ... i mean really: compared to Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, (young) Carmen McRae, Karrin Allyson, Dionne Warwick, Chryssie Hynde and so many others, I don't think Adele's voice is particularly remarkable ... i'm spoiled by the quality of the material i already have on my iPod!!!

I understand. See that's the diff between Adele and Ella. They both had a voice, but Ella's lyrics were more important. Adele is wasting her legacy on repetition. Someone needs to tell her that.

Are you serious? I love Adele! That would be called a chorus, not a verse!

Rufus Wainwright has actually sung Shakespeare sonnets.A form of blues lyrical poetry repeats somewhat Ill have to study it more."If something is too stupid to be spoken then
it is sung" Voltaire. Lyrics are usually awfully cliche similie and metaphor /symbols or predictable ballads.Theres exceptions to this though.

I have to agree. Her voice is great but I get so tired of hearing her songs because of the repetition.

She just wants to get the point across. Being descriptive and deep is a big part of a song. Besides, all songs are a bit repetitive. :)

no they're not Hoopla. The Beatles didn't repeat their lyrics. They changed them.
Adele has great lyrics, but she keeps repeating them. It's not that big of a deal to branch out for her and expand on them. She's a brilliant singer, but she needs help on lyrics IMHO.

I agree with you, if you go back into the 1980's and listen to Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, they had repetitive lyrics as well, know as the chorus, has anyone forgotten that there once was a chorus in songs?
