Adele made Billboard history on Friday when she became the first female singer to top the artist, album (with "21), and singles (with "Rolling in the Deep") lists all in one year. Perhaps more shocking, however, was her announcement that it may be years before she releases a new album or any new songs.
"I'm really looking forward to some time to do nothing. I imagine I'll be 25 or 26 by the time my next record comes out, as I haven't even thought about my third record yet," she told Billboard. "I'm just gonna lay some concrete, set up home and just 'be' for a bit. I'll disappear and come back with a record when it's good enough. There will be no new music until it's good enough and until I'm ready."

After having such a successful year, many artists would be afraid to step out of the limelight. But not Adele. In part she credits this attitude to Amy Winehouse’s inspiration.
"I see no appeal in having a very specific plan as an artist. Who fucking cares if people don't get it or don't like it? I'd rather trust myself, to like what I've done and stick to my guns than make music I don't like, wear clothes that don't suit me and flutter between genres because I'm scared I won't be relevant if I pass my ‘sell by’ date. Amy tattooed that in me!” she said.
On a positive note, Adele told Billboard that her vocal surgery went well and that in a few months she should be singing better than ever!
As for us, we think that Adele deserves a well-earned break and trust that her next album will be worth the wait.
What about you? Are you disappointed that it may be years before Adele’s next album?
