According to a new biography by Marc Shapiro, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Adele may have struggled with alcoholism in her earlier years. Though she was only 19 years old when she released her first album, "Adele: The Biography" claims she was doing some heavy drinking early on in career. The 24-year-old singer once said in an interview, "I got so drunk by the time I went on at 2 a.m. I had forgotten the words to my own songs... It was the worst thing ever." Shapiro writes, "Adele would drink more than normal to salve the heartbreak ... Midway through her first tour [between 2008 and 2009], she allegedly had a drinking problem." is has nothing to do with being a stable and together type of person. Alcoholism doesnt select specific character types. The fact that she is a stable and together type of person is probably the reason she was able to kick the habit.

She seems like a very passionate person and I think passionate people can get caught up in things. Not really surprised, but I don't really care all that much either. I'm glad she's past that part of her life, a lot of people never get there.

From age 19 to about 25,From 5Pm on Friday to Sunday at 6,I do not know how many beers I had drank. But Now. 3 or 4 with buds down at Buffalo Wings,trivia time & I am cool.

Singers are human just like us. They live lives just like us.Then they get in the spotlight.

She's not all that 'innocent' or whatever as she looks to be compared to other famous stars- and in today's world, I'd be surprised to know if someone DOESN'T drink when they're of age. Well, you have to admit it's the truth for majority.

"During her early success".....oooo....she's been around for what, 3 years? Maybe 4?

I've seen Hank Jr. and Willie Nelson smashed onstage on several occasions. It was almost a part of the show, for them.

Went to an oldies concert once, with 4 or 5 bands, and Frankie Vallee and the Four Seasons headlining.

By the time they came on, Frankie was so drunk, they had to bring a stool out for him to sit on, so he wouldn't stagger around and fall off the stage. But he knew all the words.

I don't know much about Adele. I do not listen to her music or read any of her interviews. But I will say that I'm sure she's never said she was such an angel that's never had problems.

I've heard Adele make references to "not drinking anymore," which suggests she had to quit. I wouldn't be surprised, either--she seemed like a bit of a wreck when she released her first album.
