The Billboard Music Award finalists have been announced, and they're basically the usual suspects. The better question is, who has the lead going in?

Adele's name appears in 18 different categories, including the coveted Top Artist category, where she will compete against Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry and Rihanna (who was the leading finalist last year). Meanwhile, electro-pop duo LMFAO is a finalist in 17 award categories, including Top Duo/Group and Top Hot 100 Artist.

But there are plenty of artists to choose from. Nicki Minaj’s "Barbz" will surely be rooting for her in the Top Female Artist and Top Radio Songs Artist categories, and Bruno Mars is a finalist in several categories, including Top Male Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist.

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be broadcast live on May 20, 8/7c on ABC. In the meantime, who are you rooting for?

... well okay, ALMOST anyone.
Obviously Icki Minaj shouldn't even be up there, but I'm not too concerned about her. She has no chance. Neither does Bruno... They can both roll off a cliff in a flaming barrel for all I care.

Preferably Mother Monster, she deserves the prize, but Katy Perry would be just as good!

I see that the vast majority of SodaHeads have answered "ADELE" as the music artist they'll be rooting for at the Billboard Music Awards. Adele's album, filled with nothing but songs about the painful breakup with her boyfriend, is pretty much of a downer, and I'd like to hear her do something more upbeat. However, I recently watched an episode of PBS's "Inside The Artist's Den" that featured Adele, and I was greatly impressed. I'm not a fan of 99% of today's crapulous pop music, which is a vast wasteland IMO, but Adele is a truly talented singer and songwriter. On the show, it was just her voice, accompanied only by an acoustic guitarist and a piano player. Not many singers nowadays can get away with being so exposed, without all the bells and whistles that go along with lots of musical acts. Anyway, I do like Adele, and she deserves to win plenty of trophies at the Billboard Music Awards.

Although I love LMFAO, why in the hell are they nominated so many times? These guys are a novelty act, not true musicians. "Party Rock" and "I'm Sexy And I Know It" are great videos and dance club songs, but there's no true artistry here. I do hope they perform at the awards show though, because those two nut jobs are funny as hell. EVERY DAY I'M SHUFFLIN'!

Not really any other good choices (except maybe Bruno Mars). Also, why does anyone care for these award shows? Really, I just don't get it...who cares if other people like your fave....you like it and most of the artists that win are over-rated. Most of the real talent doesn't ever get recognized. (There are exceptions, and Adele is talented....that isn't my point).

Seriously? Is the money, the fame and writeups in the tabloids, and the lifestyle not good enough? How many award shows do these artists need. Just how much adulation must these artists dump on themselves.. I get sooo tired of all the award events. Event after award event, after award event... How many times can a person say, "I'd like to thank.....(fill in boring names of people no one knows except the artist) over and over. Any time I see one of these "award" shows advertised or promo'd or being broadcast, I switch the channel. Sorry, you only get my money for buying your music, and you get my time when I listen to your music.. You don't get to waste my time watching you and your cohorts, self flagelate yourselves for having a career in music. Wenowreturnyoutoourregularlys...

And Adele has had enough hardware. Time for no one to get any more dust collectors.. just send them all back into the studio to make more music. And if I hear my radio station play Adele ONE MORE TIME.. I swear my head is going to explode.. it was nice for a while.. but good GOD...after 500 playing of a song.. it gets nauseating..
