I remember being 18, driving around with License to Ill in the cassette player! I have been a Beastie Boys fan since then, that's 26 years and then kept making great music, doing great things and being really great people.
You know what makes me sick? Adam Yauch was a really talented guy, an activist, a philanthropist and widely respected and known as a sweet guy. He didn't do drugs, He was a family man, He was never involved in a scandal, he was a buddhist and spoke about peace. The TV has barely mentioned his death. Now if a freakshow like Michael Jackson dies, it's big news. If a celebrity with well documented drug problems and marital problems and behaves like a train wreck dies like Whitney Houston or Amy Winehouse, it's a really big deal for days it's all you see on TV.
Adam Yauch was an amazing person with a career spanning 33 years, the Beastie Boys have sold over 40 million albums, they have won grammy's and MTV awards. Adam organized the Tibetan Freedom concert. The Beastie Boys were just inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year. Adam was extremely involved in many charities and was an activist.
This is the kind of person we should be hearing about instead of 24/7 for days coverage of celebrity train wrecks death.
I guess if it's not sexy it's not news and we have gotten to the point where most people would rather hear about or watch a scandal than honor someone who was a good person.

Adam Yauch, better known as MCA, one-third of the legendary Brooklyn hip hop group The Beastie Boys, passed away on Friday. He was 47 years old. The cause of death has not been confirmed, but Yauch announced in 2009 that he was being treated for cancer. At the time, press was calling the tumor in his parotid gland "very treatable." Yauch remained hopeful, and in 2010 wrote that he and his friends were meditating twice a day "with a wish for all beings to be cured of all illnesses and to find true lasting happiness."
Yauch came up with the idea to form a hardcore band with Michael "Mike D" Diamond and two other friends, and they played their first show on his 17th birthday in 1981. Yauch played bass. After gaining momentum in the hardcore scene, the third lasting member of The Beastie Boys, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz replaced the group's guitarist and they began to shift from hardcore to hip hop. In 1986 they released their first full-length album, "Licensed to Ill." It became the first hip hop album to top the charts. Over the course of their career, the group won three Grammys.

They should have been ground up for dog food before they bred.
Hypocrite.
You hypocrites sure are judgmental.
I'm glad my kids aren't being hypocrites or political correctness. You've sure swallowed it.
I know plenty about these men. They grew rich peddling debasing ghetto music to kids. I heard it all growing up. They are no better than pornographers
They are not being indoctrinated into political correctness, hating anybody or listening to idiot kids pretending they're in the ghetto.
How do you know it's not true? Prove that claim!
"They are, unless they are discerning, being indoctrinated in to your way of thinking. Your way of thinking is not necessarily 'right'."
Prove that opinion. Otherwise we should dismiss it as 'not true' - according to your standard. You cut your own throat
"One question, though: how do you be political correctness?"
Political correctness is just a left-wing thought policing movement whereby any opinions that offend leftist sensibilities are judged and condemned as unacceptable, judgmental, intolerant, bigoted, racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, etc without having to deal with the substance of the arguments. It's imposed by leftists in Universities and the media to shut down debate and intimidate mainstream thought in America.
Fishing for bites?? Who me? Why would you think that?
....well, I think you may be on to something there : )
Your Atheism also shares a burden to justify the belief No God exists....but I digress. Atheists never meet their burden - they always attempt to shirk and shift all burden.
Yep, I recognized that burden shifting language modern Atheists try to peddle to the naive.
"You present your statements as 'fact' and the statement 'call it like it is' "
Actually, you are absolutely correct. That was an implicit claim.
Obviously, it is really just my opinion I offer when I 'call it like it is' - really - "as I see it" would be more correct.
Good point man! I didn't see that coming.
" I think the lack of evidence that he exists is sufficient to 'prove' that god exists. As Keith Parson's noted: "
I think you meant ..." I think the lack of evidence that he exists is sufficient to 'prove' that god [DOES NOT] exists"?
Of course, that would be unjustified..
1) An absence of evidence is NOT evidence of absence.
2) An absence of evidence would only justify withholding judgement (Agnosticism) - not a positive denial position (Atheism)
3) There is massive evidence for God. Rejection of evidence is not a justification for positive denial. Atheism assumes a burden to justify as a belief (denial of God) position, just as Theism is a belief position.
Now where is that evidence to justify the belief that No God exists? If no evidence - why the double standard? Why is belief in No God justified with no ...

"about UFOs, Bigfoot, the Lost Continent of Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle, poltergeists, etc"
BTW. You do well to present these types of examples rather than Unicorns and orbiting teapots where I can give positive evidence to justify denial. Other Atheists should take your cue.
Of course, even your examples can only justify an Agnostic position (withholding judgement) - not Atheism.
