He's got moves like Jagger, but he just might be eating his words. In March 2011, Adam Levine, frontman of Maroon 5 and co-host of the "The Voice," issued the following tweet: "I also would like to put an official ban on celebrity fragrances. Punishable by death from this point forward." This year, he recently announced that he's teaming up with ID perfumes to launch his own fragrance for men and women, 222 by Adam Levine.

And guess who pointed out the hypocrisy? His "Voice" co-judge, Christina Aguilera. She tweeted: "Ha ha. Adam Levine, what a difference a year makes. Welcome to the celebrity fragrance family!"

Levine, however, is laughing off the rivalry, explaining to People that the "Voice" vixen (who has fragrances of her own) was just being "funny and silly and friendly," adding, "We were just messing around." That said, he still has his qualms about celeb fragrances.

"I know there’s a stigma attached to it," he tells People. "A stigma that I fully understand because I, too, hate the idea of a celebrity fragrance, absolutely, 100 percent." So why is he making one, then?

"I kind of thought to myself, 'Well I’m interested in fashion and there’s a lot of things about it that could be really cool if done properly," he tells the mag. "So I want to do a thing that’s never done properly. That’s my goal. It’s going to be cool."

it was a close call between adam levine and justin bieber but i had to choose adam. most of justin's fans are tween girls and that's the perfect fanbase to market a perfume to. as a person who loves alot of celeb perfumes, i have to say that j-lo, mariah carey, britney spears and even paris hilton shouldn't even be on here. britney's perfumes rock and are THE best selling celebrity fragrances ever! j-lo started the whole celeb fragrance thing and she's got some awesome scents as well-miami glow is my all-favorite perfume! mariah carey's fragrances are good too ( i own luscious pink, forever and lollipop bling and they all smell good) and even paris hilton has good perfumes. alot of people turn their noses up to celebrity perfumes but the truth is the majority of them are VERY well-done!(alot of them have super-cute bottles too. britney's first perfume, curious, started the whole vintage bulb atomizer trend)

Perfumes is like poison to me, if I walk by anyone who wears perfume I get sick with

migraines, nauseate & down in bed, sometimes, for weeks. I used to wear perfume but

since I had head injury & then surgery in 2006, I become very allergic to perfume but not

natural aromas from plants & flowers.

Not to rain on your parade here but the classic scent of Chanel No.5 is technically the grandmother of all celebrity perfumes. Coco Chanel, which the perfume is named after, was a fashion designer, not a perfume designer.

Mon dieu, quel un tête bloc!, In your attempts to bash celebrity perfumes and colognes by saying you are a frech perfume snob as some sort of perfume purist doesn't mean that the french can't also sell their names too and do the same thing as celebrities from other countries. I had named one and I can name another - Fabergé - even though they originally started as Russian jewelers and goldsmiths who imgrated to France in 1924 after the Bolsheviks seized the family's company in Russia and nationalized it in 1918 with the Fabergé still attached. (in 1842, Gustav Faberge started the jewery firm in Russia and it was Peter Carl Fabergé who brought it to international fame with his creations for the Czar's imperial court and the Faberge Eggs.) Even Carl fled but only made it to Switzerland before dying September 24, 1920. It was his sons Alexander and Eugene who openned the Jewery firm in France as "Fabergé et Cie" and "Fabergé Paris" in 1925 in order to differate it's jewery from the ones that the russians were still producing using their name and the nationalized company and to also seperated it's pieces from the ones Faberege produced prior to the Russian Revolution.. How does this involve the perfume? Simple, keep reading. In 1937, Samuel Rubin (the man who came up with the idea...&

How does this involve the perfume? Simple, keep reading. In 1937, Samuel Rubin (the man who came up with the idea of selling popcorn in movie theaters), with the aid of American oil billionaire (and a collector of Fabergé jewery) Armand Hammer bought the Fabergé brand name (not the jewelery firm itself, just the name) from Fabergé & Cie for $25,000. Rubin's aim was to produce a line of perfumes and toiletries. Mr. Rubin called his company "Fabergé Inc". "Fabergé et Cie continued to operate in Paris until 2001. In 1984 Fabergé et Cie lost their rights to use the trademark Fabergé for jewelry in a law suit against Fabergé Inc." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... In (That's because Faberge Inc started marketing jewelery itself). Now Faberge Inc goes through several name changes and several different owners before settleing right back to Fabergé Inc. It was under George Barrie and the Rayette Inc that Fabergé Inc. releases it's two most best selling colognes and Perfunes and tolietries - Brut cologne and toiletry line for men and The Babe fragrance. It through these companies that the name of Fabergé was extended to such things as clothing to wristwatchs. Unlever and Victor Mayer are current owners of Fabergé Inc and Fabergé Limied. Moral of the story: Just because it has a famous name in opennly associated with France, It doesn't doesn't mean it is a French company, and even people living in Paris France can sell their names for a buck, franc, or as it is today, a euro.

Oh for you imformation, Walmart is not a drug store as you indicated when you said "They sell that sludge at CVS and Wal-Mart too." and "Where do you buy your prescriptions and cleaning products?" Walmart started out as and techinically still is a form of the discount department store known as the variety store also known as a "Five and Dime"store - a descendant of the old fashioned "General Store" of american history. Walmart is in the same catigory as Woolworth's, Kmart, and Target. It may have explanded into offering Pharmacy servce but who didn't? But it doesn't belong in the same catigory as CVS, Osco and Walgreens - real drug stores.
Oh, I have yet to see any perfume or cologne sold in a drug store that didn't find shelf space at the perfume counter in a "Department" store too. I do have to buy this stuff as birthday, valetine and christmas presents for the women in my life. Other than Calvin Cline, Eliz Taylor's White Diamonds, and Tommy Hilfinger, most of the time drugstores don't sell celebrity scents because they have limited space and use it for what they know will sell in thier markets. Most of the times you have to go to the department stores like Macy's, Bloomingdale's. Sears and Carson Pirie Scot to find them. I knw. I just spent a log time going over CVS's web...

I just spent a log time going over CVS's website and compare it too a list of celebritely perfume/cologne and found only Keith Urban. Kim Kardashian , Elizibeth Taylor and celebrite scents by fashoin designers like Liz Calibourne, Tommy Hilfinger, Halston,Yves Saint Laurent , Calvin Kline, and Donna Karan (most of the Fashon Designers scents were put out by the Perfect Scents Fragrances company). THe rest of their inventory was perfumes and colognes by stablish companies like Coty, Revlon, Elizabeth Arden, Shalimar, L'Air du Temps, Aqua Velva, Old English, Nautica, Jovan, Rsyee Lauder, and Pierre Cardin (also a fashion designer). They don't gamble onthe type of celebrity colognes being discussed here. They don't got room for it. I haven't checked the Five and Dimes yet and I have no doubt could be there because they have room rhan a drug store.. But I did check many major department store's webiste like Macy's and found of perfumes/cologne that was sold at CVS plus every one of the celebrity perfumes mentioned in the poll's answers above all sold there.
I saw these on the very first page of Macy's women's perfume page.

It didn't really matter which one I picked, they all have as much to do with "designing" the frangrance as I do with running Bank of America. They get a contract, get a big money check and then some company markets it under their name. When's the last time anyone under the age of 60 wanted "White Diamond?" These celebrity stinkums too will fade away as does their fame and youth.
