Adam Levine admits that he may have been a "bimbo" in the past -- but when you read his new interview in Details magazine, you can't help but like him anyway.
Calling him "The New King of Pop" (we're not sure we'd go that far), the mag grills the 33-year-old frontman about his love life, music career, hit show ("The Voice") and beef with Christina Aguilera (he admits they "butted heads a little in the beginning," but says they are "totally cool now").
Levine, who recently split with his Victoria's Secret model girlfriend, Anne Vyalitsyna, admits he's "always felt a little misrepresented in the world."
"I felt like people only knew me as a singer who dated pretty girls. A little bit of a bimbo. Maybe I was kind of a bimbo," says Levine, who is rumored to have dated Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst, Maria Sharapova and Paris Hilton. "I was the music dude that was naked all the time with the girls, and that's fine, no problem with that." (Levine and Vyalitsyna posed nude together for Russian Vogue.)
But he has some good explanations for his boorish behavior. "There's two kinds of men," Levine says. "There are men who are f---ing misogynist pigs, and then there are men who just really love women, who think they're the most amazing people in the world. And that's me. A player would be someone who could get women because they have a thing for him, even if he is lying. Like Barney Stinson for example...

I don't care that he is promiscuous, and I'm not judging him negatively for that (he may have problems with himself, he may have problems with women, etc. not for me to assume I know), I just have an issue with calling promiscuity "loving women".
No other eighty something can get the attention of multiple twenty something girls all at the same time.

I know all too well how short life can be, and I do think everyone should live life to the fullest. That said, I believe life has more meaning and value than to spend it in a constant state of being insatiable- Never being happy or satisfied sounds extremely boring and lonely to me. No matter how many teenaged bimbos you have around, they can Never replace having a deep and meaningful relationship based on equality, respect, and deep admiration for the other person your with... I'm actually embarrassed, and feel sorry for him, that now, as he nears the end of his time here, he has no one that meets that criteria. If men want to have a piece of eye candy at their side, great! Good for them.. But they should keep in mind that the body and soul can't live on candy alone.
I'm of course very envious of people in very long lasting relationships. But not all of us are wired for that. I myself reserve my heart for the one that got away. Therefore, I settle for brief affairs although not on the level with Hef's coterie of sex buddies/bimbo's. I have noticed the quality of Playboy Playmates has gone waaaay down in the last two decades.
That said, Hef is not unlike alot of rich & famous people who find themselves surrounded by bleach haired gold digging silicone recipients. It just seems to the be way of things. But he did marry once and he did have kids and perhaps grandkids. And if I may be so bold as to claim any faint comparison to him at all then I'll indulge the notion that possibly he, like me may find more meaning out of his relation to his offspring. That is to say, one sort of relationship is good for one aspect of life while anything more emotionally fulfilling might have more to do about the relationship and pride one has with one's kids. At the end of a lifetime perhaps that's all that any of us have?
I'd like to see her happy, whatever that may look like.
Same for Hef, the old horn dog... ; )
