The most culturally influential musicians of the baby boom generation, no doubt about it - Benjamin Wiker and other conservatives would have a field day dissecting their songs and it’s extremely easy to see the real message behind them unless you blind yourself to the notion that it’s all about sex.
That the hyper-radical hedonism of AC/DC struck a chord with a working class that was seeing or feared seeing its real wages reduced by attempted cuts to the public sector there is not a whiff of doubt. The message that rock and roll could save fits in clearly with the message, and gave these people something to aim for - indeed even idolise.
The music itself seems quite challenging - a classic use of “double time” rhythms in a two-part song, which was to become a model for such Metallica songs as “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” and “One”.
What Benjamin Wiker says about what he sees as destructive books certainly applies to AC/DC’s music - even if you hate it or what it stands for, you should certainly listen to it at least once.
Stand up and be counted for what you are about to receive
We are the dealers
We'll give you everything you need
Hail hail to the good times
Cos rock has got the right of way
We ain't no legends ain't no cause
We're just livin' for today
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you
We rock at dawn on the front line
Like a bolt right outta the blue
The skies alight with a guitar bite
Heads will roll and rock tonight
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you, yes we do
For those about to rock, we salute you
Salute
We're just a battery for hire with the guitar fire
Ready and aimed at you
Pick up your balls and load up your cannon
For a twenty one gun salute
For those about to rock
Fire
We salute you
For those about to rock
We salute you
For those about to rock
Fire
We salute you
Fire
We salute you
We salute you, c'mon
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you
Shoot, shoot
Shoot, shoot
For those who give
For those who take
Those left high
And those on the make
We salute you
We salute you
We salute you

I'm envious of a friend who has a few ACDC albums on A Track.
Following isn't as good as the Acca Dacca version but I love Rollins and Hardons.
