Somebody must have realized that they could cash in on that controversial Time magazine cover. TV production company Collins Avenue (makers of "Dance Moms" and "American Stuffers," is developing a reality show about mothers who breastfeed older children, the New York Post reports.

The health benefits of breastfeeding (for mom and baby) are well known, with most doctors recommending exclusive breastfeeding for at least the first six months of a child's life and then breastfeeding while supplementing with food for at least the second six months. The World Health Organization encourages nursing until at least age 2.

But somehow, the sight of a mom breastfeeding a child over two tends to freak people out, even though the medical advice is mixed on when you "should" stop. "Experienced pediatricians realize that the benefits of breastfeeding don’t just magically disappear after one year," Karen McGratty, a lactation consultant who is nursing her 3-year-old son, told the Post.

"I didn’t set out to nurse a 3-year-old," mom Jessica Cary told the Post. "But two years came and went. Now breastfeeding and mothering are so intertwined for me." Are you interested in learning more about moms who can't give up breastfeeding? Or not in the slightest?

They quoted the one mum as saying "Now breastfeeding and mothering are so intertwined for me". So as long as she's a mother she plans to breastfeed the kid? Won't this make college a wee bit awkward? Seems to be more of a habit the mums can't break, not the kids. Too bad they can't be adult about it and wean the child when breast milk becomes unnecessary (definitely before 3).

I hate them too, that's just my way of expressing how bad reality tv actually is :)

Amen!! The WORST byproduct of so many tv channels is the need to fill them, and unfortunately reality shows have become almost every channel's go-to filler.

In 1958, in Tokyo, I saw a woman breast feeding a young boy who was standing beside her while they waited for the light to turn green. I assumed the boy was her child, but you know what they say about assumptions.

the majority on here disagree with that, as do i . i think its beyond acceptable. you breastfeed a baby not a child. what is it mums get out of it? read some more comments, you'll see it isnt such a good thing.

you do know in other countries breast feeding a child beyond age 1 is considered normal, right? It is only Americans that have this unhealthy attitude towards it and it was perpetrated by the Formula companies in order to sell more product, right? You know all of this right? You are judging by your own societal standards which is not fair.

ah, no. I'm not a singer, I'm a drummer. I march to my own beat, i dont base my thoughts and ideas on societys, society i cant avoid, but i dont need to always partisipate in it either. Dont look to my past as i dont live there anymore............ i dont judge those by their past. im not judging these either, im stating my opinion, as this site is for, there is no competition, so no need for judges. ok. so again no. Judge all you like, for at the end of the day i know me, and i know what i have done. if i can live with that comfortably, i dont have a problem.. so opinions of me do not really matter a great deal.

how can we teach our kids to grow up, act their age, when mummy dont want them off the tit?

Is this the show people were saying is coming to Albuquerque to film? Hell no, you get your buttocks out of the city. We have better standards than low-life crud like this. Should go watch Breaking Bad. ;-) Even if I had service, I still would not watch it. Distractions while in college make self feel down about someone I could care less of. Garbage television for a garbage society. PASS!!!!!!

Niether, it isn't a great idea. They already 20/20 or 60 min (I'm not sure which) on the topic of extended breastfeeding. I see the benefits in extended breastfeeding and there should be more education on breastfeeding in general (for it isn't easy b/c it is natural...they try to sell that claim..ha!). But outside of mothers dealing with daily scrutiny there isn't much of a show (and really who breastfeeds their toddler in public to have public scrutiny? Breastfeeding after the 1st year is a 1-2 times per day thing, there is no need).

Lastly, it is not the worst show out there......I bet I could make a list of shows that are much worse.
