A Peek at the Last 'Harry Potter' Movie: Will It Be the Best Yet?

Part one of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" may have set a new bar for Potter films with over $120 million opening weekend, but you can bet that the crew will be going all out for the very last film in the franchise.

If you haven't read the books, we won't spoil anything for you, but if you've seen the trailer for the first part you may have noticed some scenes that didn't appear in this year's movie.

Like the second half of the book it's based on, the second "Deathly Hallows" film will contain some of the biggest moments in the series -- not the least of which will be the ultimate showdown between Harry and Voldemort.

Scenes that appeared in the trailer but weren't in part one include Harry going into the Forbidden Forest, the gang sneaking into a goblin bank which has an enormous blind dragon for a vault guard, and of course scenes from the final battle, which looks like it will be chock full of the studio's snazziest CGI spells and explosions.

And the best part -- for some -- is that Warner Bros. has confirmed that part two will be offered in 3D and IMAX formats.

If you've been along for the ride this far, there's no way you'll jump ship now. J.K. Rowling has fans at the edge of their seats, and even if they've read the books nine times and counting, there's nothing like seeing it on the big screen.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" will be released in the summer of 2011, currently set for July 15.

I went to see part 1 on Friday and I was rather disappointed, I hope part 2 is better.

It could be, but with them making the second part in 3D, it could suck horribly, too.

I had low expectations going into this film, and I came out, totally blown away by how awesome it was.

Not everyone liked it, but I sure as well was beyond impressed. Emma Watson totally stole the show in this one, IMO.

Part 1 set some high expectations for me for Part 2 - hopefully it will not disappoint.

Hopefully it will do this ending to this epic finale justice!

after seeing this latest installment, I agree. This one is a rip off and nothing like the rest of the series and way too adult for the audience these books and movies are geared to. Not to mention, this one is just a boring stinker! 4 thumbs down!

the 7th book was the best so the movie should be the best too.
unless they f*cked it up as bad as they did the 4th movie, god that was horrible

I don't really like the fourth movie, probably because they replay it all the time on tv. I think the third one was pretty good.

I think all of them are good, hehe. Not sure on why, but the fourth has always been my favorite.

Of course! I just went to see part 1 at the imax on Saturday! It was the best so far. There was more surprises than I would've thought! But, I do love it! I can't wait to find out what happens in part 2 because they left it for us to wonder what would happen! I would read the book but 1 - I don't own it and 2 - I am not a big reader so I probably wouldn't finish it. :/

I think part 1 was excellent and part 2 looks sure to deliver. For all the people who can't cope with a cliff hanger as the end for part 1 of a two part movie, well... get over it. I thought the ending was perfect because you have most of the story developed in part 1, and the action comes in part 2. I also think David Yates did a great job fitting as much of the book in as possible.

No because so far the movie doesn't follow the book, I mean the main idea is followed just not everything else.

Yes the main idea as well as crucial key points but sometimes I was just too disappointed to find out that they left other key events out.
  • Courtney Sarah 2010/11/29 02:50:03

But it wouldn't be practical to include everything from the book. As much as I hate it, the movies have to have time limits and there is no way all 759 pages can be completely accurately depicted. I think the producers did a great job fitting as much in as possible.

I agree! The fifth was too much action and the sixth was too much romance and basically just crap. That's why I was so happy with part 1. It stuck a lot closer to the actual plot =D

Come on we all know they cut the fight scene at the end of Half Blood Prince. But this movie pretty must followed quite of bit of the last but, then again, it cut off the information that wasn't really needed.

Of course it will! There's so many things that need to happen (No spoilers, read the book) in the next one that it might just be impossible to not be exciting. Plus, it's going to be the last movie in the series and that's a lot of hype (as it should be), and I can't wait for 3D thats going to be epic, and just the fact that something so huge is ending that everything will be maxed out to it's fullest. As long as it isn't a repeat of the 6th movie it'll be okay, or as long as everything that happened in the book happens then it will be fine.
