Apparently playing a hotel cleaning lady in “Maid in Manhattan” did not make Jennifer Lopez sympathetic to others in the profession. In fact, reports have surfaced that thanks to J-Lo, an employee at the Melia Duesseldorf luxury hotel in Germany recently lost her job. And all the admiring worker did was ask if she could get the pop star’s John Hancock.

Pray Dodaj told the Deutschland tabloid newspaper Bild that she went to the suite’s door and asked two of the singer’s assistants if she could get her signature. As she recounted, “I cleaned on her floor. And I am an incredibly big fan so I took all my courage and rang the bell to get an autograph.”
Lopez’s staff rebuffed the request and it doesn’t appear that Dodaj ever contacted the former “American Idol” judge directly. Still, Jenny from the Block called the cleaning company that employed Dodaj and complained. The next day the chambermaid was sacked for violating hotel policy, which mandates that workers respect the privacy of guests.

This is not the first time that the music icon has been called out for diva-like behavior. But if the story is true, the reaction seems a tad extreme. What do you think? Did Jennifer Lopez overreact to the autograph request?

Yes+21APPARENTLY SHE HAS FORGOTTEN THAT SHE WAS A STRUGGLING ARTIST AT ONE TIME WHO HAD ICON'S AND WOULD'VE DONE THE SAME THING; THIS TAKES AWAY MY RESPECT FOR FOR HER BIG TIME, PEOPLE BORN TO MONEY USUALLY DON'T BEHAVE LIKE THAT, IT'S THE NOUVEAU RICH WHO DO THIS SORT OF THING.

One is a lot worse and insensitive.
I would have been pretty annoyed if I was just relaxing in my room, after probably signing a hundred autographs, posing for a million photos, and/or working on the set for the whole day, and this woman just knocks on my door to get an autograph. I'd be like, "Can't you people let me have some time alone?" One can't spend all day around people they aren't acquainted with, or they'd go insane. There's too much vigilance of speech and body to have to control for that long.
