A blanket ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines?

What is sensible? I think it would be "sensible" to not have any gun laws.

Most of you people calling for a ban on assault weapons wouldn't know an assault weapon if it were shoved up your nose.

What makes a weapon an assault weapon? Do you have any idea?

In 1776, a musket would have been considered an assault weapon. The Brown Bess was the top of the line assault weapon of it's day and a skilled operator might get off three rounds a minute.

Hell no there should not be a ban on them nor high capacity magazines. Good sense should be the chief factor in choosing a magazine. I prefer to carry the 17 shot in my weapons and only load them to about 90% capacity because it is easier on the spring. I don't even like those "drum" type magazines having seen them jam up on the operator.

The current regime is becoming too damned intrusive. I seriously question the good sense of the people that voted for four more years of it but I suppose that you have your reasons.

Two hundred years ago, this was an assault weapon and a very good one at that.



Three lines of soldiers firing, reloading and advancing a few steps took ground quite well.

Like most major issues, this one does not get fixed with over-hasty and simplistic reactions.

As I've said many times. I'm all for gun ownership of hunting rifles. By that I mean Winchesters and shotguns. Not semi-automatic/automatic m-16's and ak47's.

A Winchester is a lever action rifle. And I shoukld have just said automatic rifles.

Winchester does alot more than lever action rifles. I own one of there lever action model 94s in 44mag and trust me, someone who knew how to use it could have killed alot more kids than the Adam lanza did. I own both ar-15s and ak-47s and I have used both to hunt with, I don't see your problem with them. By the way it has been illegal to make any automatic firearm since 1986, and the prices on the ones that you can get are ridiculously high.

How about a blanket ban on Psychos ... screen them out ... next identify what you mean by assault weapons. Too broad a category Semi automatics and semi automatic ammunition is OK Just the bad ass clips and guns carried by soldiers. All these killings were executed by sick people Americans cannot and must never give up their constitutional right to bear arms.

yet a person who is willing to shoot up a school, movie theater etc has come to a place where he KNOWS no one is armed and has all the time in the world to reload and rearm a dozen times since he is well prepared because he came for one reason and one reason only, to kill as many people as possible.

Let's see...In sweden where there is a assault rifle in a majority of the homes their deaths from firearms is about 60 a year...ours is 166 times more than that +/-(10,000) So really you gun control fanatics DON'T know what you are talking about....and a public execution or 10 may curb some of the crime too...
