A 900 lb. gator is small fry.
In the post Katrina flood waters in New Orleans, the troops found an alligator that was 21 ft. long, weighed 4,500 lbs. and was estimated to be at least 80 years old; since it was too old to catch its usual prey, it was looking for humans to eat.
The troops killed it; I guess they don't like animals trying to survive.

When I tried to attach the google image, a green symbol of a face sticking its tongue out showed up - what ever that means; I guess it means that the picture can be viewed on google but not shared.
Why this is so is a mystery.

Anyway, if you want to see it, go to google images and type in "21 ft. Katrina gator".
It's the first image on page one - the one showing the gator's head sticking out over the back of a large truck - and the third image on page 2.

Ok I take my reptiles seriously so I did some investigating and found that the gator you are talking about is crocodile from Pointe Noire. Also note that the specimen has a pointed nose. Gators have rounded noses.

    Crocodile

    Alligator
pointe noire specimen pointed nose gators rounded noses crocodile alligator

It also turned out the the crocodile was only 16ft long and weighed only about 2,000lbs. That's pretty normal for a Nile Croc.

"The male crocodile usually measure from 11.5 to 16 feet long (3.5 to 5 meters), but very old, mature ones can grow to 18 ft (5.5 m) or more.[5] Males usually weigh about 500 lbs (225 kg),[6] but very large & old specimens can reach up to 2000 lbs (909 kg).[7] The largest accurately measured male was shot near Mwanza, Tanzania and measured 6.45 m (21.3 ft) and weighed approximately 1,090 kg (2,400 lb)."

Sorry; you may claim to take your reptile seriously but I can't take you seriously.
The specimen I was referring to did not have a pointed nose, as crocodiles do, but a rounded one as alligators do.
And what do you mean, " it was from Pointe Noire"?? (starts giggling uncontrolably).
How would anyone know where this gator had come from??
Would they have checked its wallet for its ID or driver's license to see where it lived??
    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Googled the "Katrina Gator" and seen the pictures and it is a crocodile. It's a Nile Croc. This story was originally from Africa. Someone changed it to make it seem like a someone caught a "gator" after Katrina.

Let me get this clear. Real crocodile but it wasn't caught in America. The crocodile was caught in Africa in 2003. So I'm laughing at you. Just goes to prove some people can't see the truth.

Well, they said they were taking the meat back with them. I suppose they are going to eat it. It is not what I would want on my menu, but some people eat gator!

For sure. I am scared of this woman and it seemed like the alligator was too. It took her two hours to get him to come to edge of the water to be shot. Then they had to stab him a couple of times and sever his spinal cord. Sister had done her homework. She was not leaving without new croc shoes and a matching purse. LOL I thought they were blood thirsty predators?

I'd think twice ab out tussling with this woman myself. she's a good sized middle aged blonde........it was probably a menopausal rush for her..LOL Nothing more bloodthirsty than a teed off woman in menopause!!

Handbag, shoes, complete set of luggage....easily - for every woman in the family. Provided you could cut it...look at that things back. I don't know, think you could cut and sew that?

I do not think I would try to do anything with Godzilla. I thought I had an adventurous spirit, but she has taken the proverbial cake. However, you strike a cord with that menopausal rush. It could quiet easily produce such bouts of strength and bravery.

I'm always suprised when people see large reptiles. Crocodiles and Alligators are some of the biggest reptiles on earth. I guess it's that primal fear of large predators.

The gator in this photograph was actually taken out of a lake in Bar X Ranch in Brazoria County Texas. If would notice the uniform that the game warden is wearing is Texas state issue, and I work with him on occasion when I catch one behind my house. Don't believe me look it up in our area newspaper. The Brazosport Facts.
