I am a lifetime NRA member, I have taken several gun safety classes and grew up using them. As long as you respect them and don't do stupid things with them, they are safer than driving a car!

I don't know exactly what you mean by trust myself? Do you mean, do I trust not to shoot my foot or worse with it or do I trust not to hit a perp coming at me (missing) or do you mean something else altogether?

I've never used a gun, so I wouldn't know what I was doing. But I trust myself completely with a bow.

I love bows and arrows. Maybe that's why I played the indian when I was 3 and playing cowboys and indians with my brother.

(Prior Military, I don't hunt, I choose not to live in/at a location that might require weapons for self defense.)

If i were to move back to Alaska,.. probably get a 50 cal handgun and a shotgun,.. otherwise no, I don't "need" a gun.

Even if he were, (he's not) doing what "hitler did" Hitler didn't do half as much as a lot of people have been saying FOR FOUR YEARS what Obama is "about to do".

Owning weapons should be left to trustworthy, thoroughly trained professionals at the police and in the army. Also gun clubs and sports with arms should have absolutely trustworthy members and observe strict safety measures.

There are many means of self-defence, also without arms.

Adequate weapons should be only allowed if there is no sufficient protection against crime and violence.

The news are informing about another shooting in a school in Connecticut, with about 27 children and adults killed!

I'm just glad I can"t afford a gun right now. there have been quite a few shootings in my area recently...

Also I heard Connecticut police just showed up at an apparent school shooting. I don't know if it's true though.

Seeing that I have about 40 years experience with small arms, as well as Gun mounts, rocket launchers, torpedos, and EID's I feel very comfortable with most weapons. Ex Police officer, and Navy Gunner's Mate

I know that having a gun doesn't mean I have to use it, however if I have a gun what's to stop me from using it? I know there are consequances, however the fact that our prison system are so over filled proves that many people don't think about them until after they shoot someone. I have never owned a gun and I honesty can say I have never needed one. I can also say that there have been times I was thankful I didn't have one! People say "guns don't kill people", "people kill people". "I say "people with guns kill people" And for me I don't ever want to be put in a position where I have to kill anyone! Nor do I want some fool with a gun to kill me. And I'm not just talking about criminals, there are some so-called law abiding citizens with their on agenda just looking for a reason to shoot someone. Who they deem a threat based on their own preconceived notions, even if it's situation they initiated!

I wasn't raised by a gun owner,so I've never even held a gun and according to some people I shouldn't have the right to own one because I have a mental illness,I would never hurt anybody,but some people assume because of my borderline personality disorder that I would, I don't really know the laws about that kind of thing.

I don't know the laws either ..... take a course .... get a concealed weapons permit.... but, only if your are comfortable doing so.
It's just that we need to be able to protect ourselves against evil people who like to harm others.
I've never carried a gun before like I do now.... never.... sometimes I take mine from room to room with me, just in case. I won't let the evil side win...... if I can protect myself I'm going to.... but I am all alone.
I have to depend on me!

I agree,I may not have a gun,but I believe people should have the right to own them,because the bad guys don't care about laws and will get them one way or another,so why shouldn't the good people be able to protect themselves.I will look Into the laws first and see what I will do from there.
