50 Cent's Japan Earthquake Tweets: Insensitive?

Rapper 50 Cent admits that he only tweets certain things for the shock value, but joking about Japan's devastating earthquake within 24 hours? He's got that shock value down pat.

The rapper tweeted Friday at 12:43 PM, "Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoe's from LA,Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol"

The earthquake, which may have taken the lives of up to 10,000 people, hit Japan at 2:46 PM on Friday, which would have been late Thursday night in the States.

What, too soon?

Mr. Cent quickly added, "Nah this is nuts but what can anyone do about it. Let's pray for anyone who has lost someone ... Some of my tweets are ignorant I do it for shock value. Hate it or love it. I'm cool either way."

Though he didn't sign off without throwing in a couple more observations.

"Man they made a movie about all this 2012 now you think that was a lucky guess ... This camera man ran up on me from TMZ. I said what are you following me for go cover the TSUNAMI."

It seems like all the insensitive Tweets are coming from here in the US. First with Gilford Godfrey, and now 50 Cents. Probably none of us REALLY understand what it's like over in Japan, when you're stuck, unable to fly out, and you're at risk from the radiation from the nuclear power plant.

I think it was maybe a little insensitive, but he was only trying to make a few smiles and while he could have gone about it differently, I don't think he was completely wrong in his words.

Personally I'm fraking sick and tired of everything having to be "sensitized" so that no one's poor little delicate emotions get hurt or offended. Get over it and grow a thicker skin.

I'm sure the families of those who died will grow a thicker skin, and get over it eventually - I pray the rest of the World don't become as desensitized as you are. As a nurse, I can assure you the sights of many dead bodies, especially those of babies, is not something to joke about.

And I'm sure those families don't really give a flying rats ass what some crappy rapper has to tweet. I'm sick of constantly hearing about people getting their knickers in a twist over the most stupid nonsense because they can't take a godsdamned joke. Realize that some people's way of dealing with a bad situation is to try to joke about it.

Joking? So much aggravation doesn't instil any sense of 'joking' about something. ''fraking sick and tired' 'godsdamned joke', and 'flying rats ass' - is rather strong for simply joking, in my opinion, but then, fortunately, opinion is what this site is all about - ne c'est pas?

I'm not joking. I'm annoyed. The thing that annoys me is people getting their knickers in a twist and crying about things being "insensitive" because they can't understand that people make jokes about bad situations as a means of mental defense. And I'm tired of listening to the whining pity parties about how offended they've decided to be.

Ok, people will get upset to the point of sillyness in many events - when Princess Diana died, there were mass wailings on street corners, which was extremely unnerving, and OTT. It's fine to feel sad, upset, and angry about a situation beyond our control - that's compassion - but taking it to the extent where people - 50 cent, in this case - who are there as role models for our youngsters joke about it isn't very clever.
