50 Cent Hospitalized After Being Hit by Semi: Does Driving Around Big Rigs Make You Nervous?

Rapper 50 Cent (né Curtis Jackson) was hospitalized on Tuesday after being involved in a car accident. According to his official website, Jackson's bullet-proof Chevy Suburban was rear-ended by a Mack Truck driven by a 61-year-old man. Lindsay Lohan also collided with a semi a few weeks ago, but that was her fault. There was nothing 50 Cent could do about this one.

Jackson's SUV nearly flipped over on impact, but fortunately he and his driver escaped with minor injuries. The man responsible for the accident claims the load in his truck shifted and caused him to lose control of the vehicle, just as traffic suddenly slowed ahead of him. 50 Cent was placed on a stretcher and transported to a Queens hospital, where he was treated for back and neck injuries.

I drive a "big rig" semi for a living, some people have no respect for our size and the amount of weight we are hauling, there should be no need for people to be nervous as long as you remember we can not always see you and we need allot more room to stop than you.So don't hang out along side us and do not cut in front of us and you will be fine..usually.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. They are huge, my car is tiny.

I had an accident two summers ago where I was hit drivers side by a semi and veered across two lanes of traffic on the highway at 65 miles/hour. There was another car that flipped into the ditch, and another one rear ended. Nobody went to the hospital, and my only injuries were cuts on the back of my thigh from cut glass because my window shattered.
Coincidentally, I had just returned from camping. In the back seat of my car was the walking stick I used, named Jesus.

They are a way of life in driving in Houston. But when they get pushy I push back.I did it even in a small Mustang.Besides I am a courier driver, and I do what they do in a smaller vechicle.

One of these times you are going to push back and find yourself under 40 tons of freight and dead. Don't be a moron. Big truck have a tough enough life without dealing with road rage idiots like you. I am from Houston, and I deal with the likes of you. I have camera's on board, so your pine box will have a video attatched to show what a dumbass you were. Good luck.

Its not road rage. Its when I am in a spot on the freeway, and they want to get where I am at. If I have the right of way,I am not going to get out of the way because they are big.

Ahh, I see. So instead of being considerate of how tough it is to move 70 feet of truck and trailer in Houston traffic, you would prefer to be a dick and hold your ground, simply out of principle. But I bet you get furious if a truck doesn't jump out of the way when you are trying to merge into a busy freeway. I bet you think that trucks are supposed to yield to the smaller car too.
I wish people like you with your small vision and piss poor attitudes would be forced to take a course in driving a big rig. I suspect if you were ever behind the wheel of one, you would piss your pants and have at least one accident your first day out. You are the type that causes accidents and possibly deaths due to your attitude and ignorance.
You think your cocky little attitude makes you bad and tough? It makes you a threat to all around you. One of these days you are going to run across one of those trucks from Mexico that has no insurance and no training and he is going to run your ass over. Your attitude is going to get you seriously injured if not dead. Keep up the good work idiot.

I get nervous around stupid drivers regardless of what they are driving. Majority of truckers are great drivers who have to be aware of everyone around them and try to compensate when other drivers make a stupid mistake. That being said there's always those who really shouldn't be driving who feel that the rules don't apply to them causing accidents that could be avoided.

car drivers... they think they own the road! i think that truck drivers have every right to be on the road like car drivers. i mean they are the people that bring in all the stuff for the grocery stores. have you ever been upset that your store didnt have what you were looking for? well if they were only allowed to drive those limited hours, they it would take even longer for them to get from point a to point b... just think about that. :)

In my opinion they should also be forced to stay in the Truck lane as many states require. Most truck drivers are good drivers but the ones who aren't cause major issues for the others. Stay in the damn right lane

Next time you go to the store and your favorite item isn't on the shelf, remember what you just typed. This country would grind to a halt without the truck driver. They leave families at home and spend endless lonely hours on the road, delivering the products that keep you fed and comfy. Think about that next time you make such a smartass remark.

I am an Uncle too. I have missed graduations and birthdays out here on the highways. People don't see that side of our chosen career. Not to mention the constant harrassment from "safety" officials and the endless construction and traffic. I wish people could live a day in our shoes, and perhaps appreciate what we go through to deliver the goods that keep them going.

fact is, truckers do own the road. where you might pay $100 a year in taxes which goes towards highways, truckers pay nearly 20X what you pay.

I made a career driving 18 wheelers and I learned the way to avoid crushing a four wheeler was to back off when a car would cut me off or if I was beimg tailgated I'd slow down and they would pass me so either way that's the secrete of avoiding an accident. I drove thirty some years only scraped a car bumper jack kniefing the trailer the rear step on the trailer scraped it caused three hundred dollars four inch scrap. Sooooo four wheelers give them big toys room.

If the greenies weren't hypocrites, they would get these death machines off the roads, and get our rail system built back up. We could save billions of gallons of fuel, save countless dollars in automobile repair, and er visits, billions in highway funding, and actually quickly, with almost zero negative consequences on the general public cut the US green house gas output by close to 1/3. But sadly, liberals want the votes of union long haul truckers.

    Technotrucker_exposingthetruth
There ya go. Support those Unions and the mass import of Chinese goods that put you and the rest of this nation out of work. You are a moron. The trains are unions, most union trucking companies are LTL, like ABF, Old Dominion, Yellow Freight. The average truck you see on the road is working for less than 40 cents per mile, some as little as 25 cents per mile. Now stop and add up how many miles a driver has to go to make a decent living. You and your green theories are so out of touch it isn't funny. You are clueless to the reality. Stop showing your low IQ and just read. It will benefit all around you.
  • Static823 FordCrews 2012/07/05 01:38:33

And do you expect trains to deliver products to the store? Do you expect trains to deliver your next new car to the dealership? Wake up! If not for truckers, most people would have nothing. Remember..."if you've got it, a trucker brought it"
