Remember little Jackie Evancho, the young "classical crossover" singer who stunned audiences on "America's Got Talent" last year (and came in second place)?
The 11-year-old's first official album, "Dream With Me," debuted at No. 2, behind an Eminem collaboration, after its release earlier this month, The Associated Press reports. Last fall, her Christmas EP, "O Holy Night," went platinum after its release.
"I've never seen a mature voice like this in all my years. It's just amazing," David Foster, who has worked with Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Josh Groban and Celine Dion, told the AP.

+6i couldn't believe the voice on this girl when i first saw her! when she opens her mouth the voice of an angel comes out! i'm not a fan of this type of music but i can appreciate that she is beyond talented. i used to think charlotte church was good as a child but jackie blows her out of the water.

I adore Shirley Temple. She was cute as a bug, and a well rounded talent to be sure. However, she was no J.E.
Judy Garland, I had a mad crush on her, (as Dorothy) when I was a child, a good actress a beautiful voice no doubt, but she was no J.E. either.
Jodie Foster & Tatum O'Neal I had a mad crush on them as well, and being the same age, I still do. I love their work, and Tatum in Paper Moon absolutely stole my heart, but neither of them can compare to Jackie Evancho.
This is all just my opinion, but since I am the only one whose opinion counts to me, I'm right,..... in my own eyes and that's all that matters to me. You are all welcome to your own opinions and that's fine. In your eyes, you're right, in mine, not, (unless you voted for Jackie).
How do you effectively compare Jackie with, say, Jodie? Jodie Foster is a consummate actor. She's one of the best ... ever. But, as a child, how was she. She was 13 in "Taxi Driver"; two years older than Jackie.
Shirley Temple was cute as a button and could "do it all" but was that enough to say that she was more talented, as a child, than Jackie?
Judy Garland was exceptionally talented but she was 16 when the "The Wizard of Oz" was filmed; five years older than Jackie.
Finally, the only other name worth mentioning (from this list) is the great MJ. He was an incredible showman and dancer. But, as a child, I can't put him above Jackie.
So, Jackie Evancho, with her incredible talent, gets my vote.
How can I be so sure about that? That's easy, She has more discipline than most people on the planet! She is the one that chose Singing as a career when she was only 8, not her parents. That's when the "Dream" was born! Dreams are wonderful things, but they don't come true all by themselves. Jackie's parents supported her decision, but they also made her work to make it happen. They helped Jackie set up a YouTube Channel, and monitored it, but the rest was up to Jackie. Jackie got the bit between her teeth and Championed on, demonstrating her desire! Jackie's parents dropped a lot in her lap, and gave her an unwritten challenge to "make it happen." Jackie needed more than just desire, at this point. Jackie can be a very determined little girl, if the need arises. David Foster, will tell you, "Jackie is not afraid to speak her mind!" So now She is determined to reach her goals. So we now have Desire and Determination working together! Jackie built her YouTube Channel into being a ...

I look at it in a Comedic way! There's Jackie at the wheel of some ship, heading straight for a collision with AGT, and she's thinking, "Wouldn't let me in the front door twice now, so I'll try the back door AGT created for me"! Think back to when she made the proclamation that, "Tonight I'm going to prove to America that the Best Things come in small packages!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?... Look at those eyes (Starting around 1:27) and the way she says it, while saying it with such ease and determination.
For Jackie's determined effort, we got "O Mio Babbino Caro", sung in a way not heard on the planet for 166 years! That was was when a 24 year old Jenny Lind started her real Operatic Career, after her vocal Retraining! As Child Prodigies, Jenny and Jackie both started Professional Careers at age 10. As a 10 year old, Jackie was hands down the better singer! Look at the ability she has to use the tools, Jackie says "God gave her!" Jenny didn't have that, she was completely self taught, along with all the mistakes and dangers, being self taught allows. She had the warning meltdown of her voice when she was 12, then Disaster at 20! Years of overuse, and improper techniques severely damaged her voice. It took almost 3 years of retraining her voice properly until she made her triumphant comeback. Before that, Jackie had the higher range, better timbre, and almost no Passiggio going from her head voice to her chest voice and back.
Taking all of what I wrote into account, I would say that Jackie accepted her parents Challenge at 8, and made most of the right moves to help herself make it happen. I think that Jackie had done everything she could to put herself in the right place at the right time, if that time became available. AGT Launched a YouTube Entry for the 12th and final position to be determined by the votes on YouTube. The time had become available, and Jackie did not miss the opportunity. Planned? How do you plan Destiny? Just maybe she was at the wheel of that ship, the whole time. What got her there is Walt Disney and his 4 Ds. She had the Dream and the Desire, and learned Determination and Discipline along the way. If any one of those 4 Ds were missing she wouldn't have succeeded! And yes, she is that smart! She's the best this world has ever seen in a 10 year old child, and that goes for 11 as well! Just think, she possesses talents we really haven't seen yet. As her lungs grow, we will see so much more of those talents. Jackie will have her own chapter in the History of Music, I can assure you.
This isn't about liking her or not liking her, it's about the things she can do with her tools and technique skills right now that are better than anyone else before her in the Entire History of Recorded Music. All of this for a kid that has no idea of exactly how good she really is yet, or how much better she is going to become! All I can say is, "Bravo!"
