Albert Gonzales, 28, and two Russian co-conspirators used an SQL injection attack (a simple hacking technique) to steal over 130 million credit and debit card numbers from retailers in the United States. The 7 Eleven chain was heavily targeted by the SQL injection, which penetrates a network's firewalls to steal information.
Albert Gonzales intended to sell the 130 million credit and debit card numbers to buyers worldwide. If convicted, Gonzales will face up to 20 years in jail for wire fraud, five years for conspiracy, and fines up to $500,000.
