my mom doesnt know that i have one and its not going to be good when she finds out so i want to tell her before she finds out herself. how can i persuade her that facebook is a good thing?

I'm not sure, I'm allowed facebook but not myspace because my dad reckons that there are less cases of children being stalked and stuff.........
Tell her that if hse gets facebook she can see what your doing.....
Then delete her, that what I did with my mum, she still hasn't noticed...

well the only way i got a facebook was cute my parents got ones... that way they can see what im doing, who im friends with ect... alos every single aunt i have has one and most of my uncles... now my family is super religous... so i dont add the people i know will be writing bad words all over my facebook or ill add them and then send them a message asking them to not say anything bad... but if u dont put any phoe #s up or anything like that i dont see anything wrong with FB

is this really is question? facebook is a much safer site than myspace and as soon as u do something she can make her own, log on, and check ur stuff and make sure wat u've been doing is legal and appropriate for watever age u r. tell her that many other ppl ur age have all gotten okays from their parents and they check them every night

promise her that u wont get hooked on online games on facebook and tell her u'll never do something like that again.

although, this also proves that fb is a stalker website because everything u do is immediately put up on display and nothing is private at all. that is why u should ask her if u can get a myspace. assure her that it will be set on private and that unless u approve ppl, they cant see ur page and likewise with other ppl ur age.

older ppl tend to set theirs so that ppl younger than 18 cant access their pgs until theyve been given an okay and been accepted as a friend.

its not as stalkerish as fb and it made me feel a hell of a lot safer.

sorry but i have thing about online websites.

my real advice is that u should just talk to her about it. i asked permission about getting one, and she didnt let me till i turned 13. at that point i had already made one and i told her about it after she gave me permission, but after the initial i"i am disappointed with u" speech, she agreed that she was beeing a little too overprotective about it. then she decided that it was her fault b/c she introduced me to the computer too soon in my childhood. she said she corrupted me by giving me an email at age 3. lol.

it is very private, you can't view random people's profiles like you can with bebo or myspace. people can only see your profile if they are in your network or are your friend. so as long as you don't join any networks and be careful who you accept as a friend you should be fine. but all the same, keep your address and phone number off it!

She is going to think it is a bad thing if she finds out you are hiding it from her. Tell her, and invite her to see what it is all about. Just like with any other site, use caution

it keeeps my mom quiet and busy. But its a good way to ... get in touch with long- lost people my mum found her friend who she hasnt seen since age 14 on facebook and it would be a good idea to connect like that with relatives the live far away

why would facebook be bad?............... like my whole family has one, its how we connect thru out the country, i have like all my sibs on it and a bunch of cousins that live elsewhere on it, i had no idea facebook could be bad
