LOL, i worked in a K-Mart (back in 1974) while still going to high school in 12th grade, was part time. Was actually thinking of pursuing a career there untill I talked to the guy in jewelry, and he told me he had been with K-Mart for 18 years, then he told me how much he made, and that was about 25 cents more than I was making per hour, and i had only been there 7 months, Yikes !!!!
So after graduating joined the Air Force, and sure glad I did, cuzz I just might still working at K-mart right now telling some young kid how much I make per hour, and then watching his eyes bugg out of his head thinking "boy is this guy's a loser" LOL, ha!
But your right about that chicken fried steak with gravy, for $1.10, man I do miss that heart attack on a plate, and well worth dieing for, ha, ha, ha!!!!!

I remember the grand opening of the one in our town. I was in the 5th grade, and I had never seen such an awesome place. I can even remember they were selling bags of peanuts that day over by the photography aisle. (you know, where you dropped off your 126 film cartridge, and waited a week or so to see your prints? That usually sucked?) There were tickets at the bottom of some of the bags of peanuts, and they were holding drawings for prizes every so often. It was like being at he fair that night.
Last year they closed the very same K-Mart. It had changed a lot over the years, but I still liked to shop there. As luck would have it, there is still one open, and it isn't all that far so I still get to shop @ K-Mart.
And they do have Blue-Light Specials."Attention K-Mart Shoppers...."
yeah Tommy!!!
Fun times.
