Boycott Ed Hardy!

I have a long time friend that got a design internship with Ed Hardy Clothing Co. with promises that if he was a great artist, he was promised a full time position in the company. The internship was unpaid and worked designing Ed Hardy T-shirts, baby clothes, keychains, etc. My friend worked really hard for 3 months, unpaid, and all he got in return was Ed Hardy shot glasses and hats. Although he interned with Ed Hardy for free working 20 hours a week, he can testify that he was treated like trash and was often told his designs sucked and that his pieces of art will never make it to the stores! --- Until the day came that he found out one of his T-Shirt designs were being sold for $179.99 a piece at the Northridge mall. He immediately contacted Ed Hardy claiming that he deserves some kind of pay or at least, what he was promised, a full time position. Which one did he get? Any! My friend was immediately fired as an intern and was scammed. It is pretty shitty that a company like Ed Hardy hires unpaid interns, sells their designs for more than 100 bucks, and gives their interns nothing whatsoever in return.

People if you worked for Ed Hardy or any other company under the pretense of internship that was actually an unpaid job please pursue you legal rights and sue them. Internships have specific requirements please look them up. Just calling something an internship does not allow any company to have people work for them for free. Know your rights and sue the bastards. Boycott Ed Hardy!
You!

If this was something that he heard about through the internet, which I don't know if it was or not, then he should know better than to believe it.

well...I wouldn't pay that much just for a shirt with a design no matter how good. Your friend should get a good lawyer and sue the hell out of Ed Hardy company.

Perhaps you should tell people where to look up the rights for internships. Many people may be in internships that they are having problems with and not know what there rights are. Are you trying to get together employees of ED HARDY and have a class action suite?

I never heard of Ed Hardy either...I tend to shop mostly at GoodWill and St. Vincent de Pauls stores. Brand new rich people throw-aways for pennies on the dollar. But yeah, re:Hardy...Pursue YOUR legal rights.

Your friend should defenitely sue Ed Hardy! In order to qualify as an unpaid internship, the requirement is simple: no work can be performed that is of any benefit at all to the company. That is, you can not deliver mail, sort files, file papers, organize a person’s calendar, conduct market research, write reports, watch television shows and report on them, read scripts, schedule interviews, or any other job that assists the employer in any way in running their business.
