Boycott Ed Hardy!

I have a long time friend that got a design internship with Ed Hardy Clothing Co. with promises that if he was a great artist, he was promised a full time position in the company. The internship was unpaid and worked designing Ed Hardy T-shirts, baby clothes, keychains, etc. My friend worked really hard for 3 months, unpaid, and all he got in return was Ed Hardy shot glasses and hats. Although he interned with Ed Hardy for free working 20 hours a week, he can testify that he was treated like trash and was often told his designs sucked and that his pieces of art will never make it to the stores! --- Until the day came that he found out one of his T-Shirt designs were being sold for $179.99 a piece at the Northridge mall. He immediately contacted Ed Hardy claiming that he deserves some kind of pay or at least, what he was promised, a full time position. Which one did he get? Any! My friend was immediately fired as an intern and was scammed. It is pretty shitty that a company like Ed Hardy hires unpaid interns, sells their designs for more than 100 bucks, and gives their interns nothing whatsoever in return.

hardy hires unpaid interns sells designs 100 bucks interns return
People if you worked for Ed Hardy or any other company under the pretense of internship that was actually an unpaid job please pursue you legal rights and sue them. Internships have specific requirements please look them up. Just calling something an internship does not allow any company to have people work for them for free. Know your rights and sue the bastards. Boycott Ed Hardy!
You!

Not to worry. At $179.99 for a tee shirt, you don't have to worry about me shopping there.

Who or what is Ed Hardy?
Interns are hired and trained within a certain profession. They basically have no rights and the internships are short. If they perform well, they may be hired by the company they worked for, or they are gone after the internship is finished.
This guy did more and the company took advantage of him. Unfortunately, it happens all the time.
The guy who created Post-It notes, worked for 3M and basically received nothing from 3M for this invention and Post-it notes have made billions of dollars fro 3M.

I can assure that the individual who created the glue/stuff for Post-It notes has been well taken care of by 3M..not only was he well compensated by 3M, he was given a beautiful exec office for life if he wishes (doesn't or didn't have to do a thing...I imagine he is long retired by now)....I used to recruit alongside the 3M folks and know this for a fact. The gentleman actually came up with the unusual stickem when he was in a church choir and was looking for sometime to use to mark his songbook pages, thus the Post-it notes came along as a result.

No problem boycotting this company and passing the word on! Hope yourfriendcan sue, but companies that do this have found loopholes to get around the law.

I concur, sadly an internship can relinguish certain rights-although Ed Hardy may have acted "technically" within their right, ethically they're already bankupt. I've never heard of E.H. up to now but I'll tell folks I know what I now know about them. Besides, the clothes look a bit pretentious don't they?

What kind of moron would pay $179.99 for a T-SHIRT? Not one who cares about copyright law or your friend's job, I'm guessing.

I think that if I see an awesome shirt, I'll get one, even if it is from Ed Hardy-har or whatever.

That said, I appreciate what you are doing for your intern friend. Good job, and good luck on your boycott.
